Rising Stars: Meet Dayanna Quintana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dayanna Quintana.

Hi Dayanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Day’Quíla started in May 2018 as an idea/side hustle.

I was an assistant manager at a Mexican restaurant in Westlake Village and getting hired on the side for private parties. I thought to myself, “Well, why don’t I just do this on my own and see how it goes. I began to build clientele by word of mouth until I decided to finally create an Instagram page. Sure enough, it began to BOOM! I was one of the first Latina Woman owned FULL Bartending Services in Ventura County. What I mean by full is that we provide anything and everything BUT the alcohol for any event and have a full bar menu.

First year, I had about 12 parties from June until December 2018. Then, COVID-19 hit in 2019. 2019-2020 was a blessing in disguise. It became the year where I made my mark and truly reached my potential. I began to sell my famous Michelada mix, margarita mix, and a chamoy rim paste. I also began to join flee markets around Ventura county and sold more mix, dip, and mocktails! Once I joined the small business Community in markets, it launched DayQuila even more!

2021 Came around and we jam-packed with events! We ended up quadruple booking one Saturday and even participated in the Taco and Tequila Festival in July 2021! That month we finished with 14 events! Tequila and Taco Festival definitely was a staple to getting our name out there and now becoming county known!

As of today, Day’Quíla is about to expand even further and book all over California, national, or even destination events outside of the country (if permitted). Day’Quíla has truly changed my life and cannot wait until we reach our FULL potential.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Trying to get my name out there as been a little difficult with so many other contenders and amazing services but I know that Day’Quíla sticks out and has its own unique flavor and idea to add to the Community of bartenders.

At first, I did struggle with finding my worth but with a lot of hard work and effort, it goes to show how much I love what I do and you can even taste it within each cocktail, how much passion and craft I put into my work.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in margaritas, micheladas, palomas, and flavored “candy” shots. My michelada recipe has been with me since I began bartending. We do flavored micheladas such as my personal favorite cucumber Michelada, Tamarindo, mango and other flavors! What makes it unique is that we use fresh muddle fruit and syrups. All of our cocktails are made with fresh syrups and fruits, fresh squeezed lime and organic agave and garnished with lots of love and passion for what I do. That’s what makes Day’Quíla unique. We take our time to make sure to perfect each cocktail and every one of our guests LOVE what they are consuming. We have a vibrant, excited, and super fun energy-filled staff that is ready to provide every guest with a memorable cocktail experience.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Family. Without my family, I would not be where I am today with DayQuíla. They stepped up to help me when I began to double book and now we can quadruple book events. I have a cousin and two other friends that help me out as well so we can take on larger events. Everyone is trained and certified to serve and provide life to any party. I also became family with other small businesses in the area and we have helped each other out immensely. I appreciate every single person that has supported me and believed in me and our journey with Day’Quíla.
