Rising Stars: Meet Daniel Javan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Javan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I used to sing a little bit back when I was eight years old but I’d be lying if I said that I knew I’d be an artist already at that age. Because it wasn’t until about two years ago when I was 15 that I started practicing singing for real, and at 16 when I started making original music.

It was January 2020 when I had released my first song ever on Spotify and I had practically no streams and no fans, but that was alright because my love for music was burning. I told myself that no matter what, I will keep releasing songs for my own sake and never give up. Fast forward to now, one year later, I have over hundred thousand people listening to my music monthly and almost 2 million streams on Spotify alone. And I did it all from home in my bedroom.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d say that I’ve had a fairly smooth road, but not smooth as in easy. Smooth as in, I had to work hard for every part of it but it flowed and happened pretty fast. Of course, there has been a few bumps along the way such as people teasing me for not being able to sing when I first started out, and they were right, but I put in the work and now the same people congratulate me. So I would say every road has struggled but with a lot of work and a little bit of luck everything can be fixed.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an artist, so I make music, more specifically I sing/rap in my songs, write the lyrics. Also depending on the song, I make the instrumental/beat myself with friends or sometimes purchase online. I’m known for my music and what I’m most proud of is the gift I have been given to be able to express myself and what I’m feeling through a song. It’s really beautiful to retell your feelings and memories in that way and very therapeutic.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like the best about my city is the beautiful nature surrounding it which makes going for a walk amazing for clearing my head. What I like least about my city is the cold weather and darkness during the winter.
