Rising Stars: Meet Crowne Mecca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crowne Mecca.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hey Family!

My name is Crowne Mecca!

Whether the fierce tones of passion from Tina Turner or the gentle masterpieces from Michael Jackson, upon hearing their songs, I’d be overcome with a warm feeling inside that I just couldn’t explain.

Music, which unbeknownst to me had become my drug of choice, has given me that high off of life feeling from as far back as I can remember, I guess it’s just so very addictive that way!

I began singing at the age of 7, in church, in the park with my sister, and family talent shows, and it was then that I discovered how much I truly loved performing and knew deep down that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I saw how much joy it brought to the hearts of people to hear good music or see a great performance, and realized I had to share my passion for music with the world.

I continued to pursue my passion for music and actually started out in a duo group, “Pharaoh” with my older sister, Koko. During that time, we launched our music video and single titled “Dat Step.” We ended up performing our single along with covers all over Los Angeles. In fact, we still get plays from the DJs till this day. Our bond as sisters and our love of music made us a dream team artistically and we literally have a blast together. I think transitioning over to the solo side of things definitely challenged me to really fight for my dream and go after everything that I want to do as a creative.

I am proud to say that the marathon continues and I released my first solo Single’, “Soulfood” along with a visual, which are both loved by my fans. I’m super excited about embarking on my first solo project, and though I’ve encountered many trials, there have been quite a few wins and accomplishments along the way. I started back performing, and that has been an amazing experience and the turnout and support has just been something, I guess I didn’t expect. I often am overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for the amount of support that I have received.

One thing that I can say is that belief in myself and continuing to be open and willing to grow has helped me to get to where I am today.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nobody told me the road would be easy, and I don’t believe he brought me this far to leave me,” in the words of Mary Mary. It has been a bumpy ride, but one mixed with adventure and trials just makes me stronger in the end. Diamonds are formed from pressure and so that’s the way I think about Music. I think when you’re first starting out no one tells you about all of the things that go into making a hit record and that you have to find your own way and ultimately remain true to yourself, but also be willing to try new things. It definitely helps to network and get to know folks, and this was initially a muscle that I had to work on strengthening, and in fact, I am still exercising it. To have good engineering and production, the best Mixes and Masters, you have to know who is the best and be able to make a connection. The Music Business is not for the faint of heart and getting the hang of the business can be a total beast.

Luckily, I have a great support team behind me and I have just taken on the mental grounding that I will continuously be learning new things. I just have to be open to growth and it is there for the taking.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My art is music, it is the rhythmic and heartfelt sound of soul, smooth jazz, RnB, reggae, and a hint of pop. I have a flow and cruise type of sound that will make you want to just play track after track and I think that is what sets me apart! I’m an LA native and I like to think that we just have and are a whole vibe, us LA artists, I Mean.

To date, I am most proud of my single, “Soul Food,” which launched at the beginning of this year and is available now on all Platforms.

Soul Food‘ is one of those heartwarming singles that will make all your stress evaporate in an instant. A song made with so much love is a real delight, and this is exactly what is on offer, with a soundtrack that will grace your heart as you have just fallen in love for the first time.

Music has the special power to change your mood like a flick of a switch and Soulfood definitely evokes that power.

When I think about it the good that my music is going to do and the lives that I can touch with it, I am grateful to have the opportunity to pursue my passion. It makes all the trials worth it and the mountains and hurtles worth climbing. I have a heart for this, and I want to help heal people’s hearts and souls with my music.

I want the world to know that even though your journey may look different, that is the magic of what makes your story uniquely yours. The trials just make for a more captivating tale and they make you stronger and often when time has passed, you can laugh about them. It is the beauty of Growth. Live in the passion of your purpose and be your own art.

That’s honestly what my Name, Crowne Mecca, stands for it is to be the life source, the light, and the center of all art!

I believe in being uniquely you, living in the art of your authentic self, and letting God take care of the rest.

My unrelenting determination to live out my passion for music and my sound being that of indie/smooth melodic jazz/ RNB/ Soul definitely sets me apart and just my heart and purpose. We each have a purpose to fulfill, and mines is to change the world through music. I’m working on birthing the Legend that is Me.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
