Rising Stars: Meet $AINT

Today we’d like to introduce you to $AINT.

Hi $AINT, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey, I’m $AINT. I grew up in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley and I started writing songs on my ukulele when I was eight. I wrote about how my environment made me feel as an only child. It was my escape from reality just masking my emotions through song. I wasn’t aware of my passion for music until I noticed that I had a gift of creating moods that would captivate audiences. I was just singing how I felt. I never had lessons for music, yet I knew it was my path. I guess it wasn’t a reality for a first-generation American from the hood to even try to pursue the arts. But, through my crazy endeavors of my young life, I somehow always found myself working towards my craft. This part of the journey is just beginning too.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I believe there’s no such thing as a smooth road when it comes to life as an artist. There will always be bumps along way, but it really comes down to how you swerve. As an artist, I feel like struggles just come with the job, and the best part of being an artist is when you can turn those times into art. I write about my life, however when I’m not feeling the best mentally, I tend to have gaps of writer’s block. I also struggle with having deadlines and a mixture of not feeling the best sometimes can be really hard to overcome. Yet, I always bounce back with a little help from time. I always strive to be honest with my audience, and when I think too hard about what I wanna write about it just ain’t it, lol. Before I start writing about the life I wanna have like (being dripped out or having financial freedom to do anything I want), I need to share my story that started who I am as $AINT.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I mostly sing and compose my music, but my specialty is singing my honest feelings. I create best when I’m on the spot and really letting myself feel. I also specialize in being nonchalantly chill at all times. Even when I’m not supposed to be, haha. I’m known for being a person that makes people feel comfortable and that’s what I want with my music. I want people to be comfortable with feeling how they feel. I’m proud that I have the ability to share my emotions through my music with others. It’s like they have limited access to my heart for a sec. Emotions are crazy and if we as a society normalize having an understanding that emotions are real and they can fluctuate like damn, we be happier in the world. I think what sets me apart from others is my height and personality. I’m a pretty short person, but I really be bringing big d*ick energy. I think I get it from my mama and being from the bay ahaha. I also just try to come at life with kindness to best of my ability. No one’s perfect, but I surround myself with dope kind people and I really believe it sets me apart from others.

What’s next?
Whew the future, really brazy to comprehend there’s gonna be a whole new life after this pandemic. For me, I see more projects in my catalog and my brand just blossoming into who I am. I’m looking forward to walking around with no mask, just the sun on face with a mimosa. Honestly, just being happy mentally and surrounded by people I love who are enjoying the journey of life through its ups and downs. I am looking forward to hopefully dropping a body of work that I’m really proud of and I’m just eager to learn more about music and the business of it all. I’m dropping a song on April 30th called “RUFFINO” that is produced by one of best friends TITOBANDITO. Really exited to share this one with my people’s, just because I feel like I’m slowly finding my sound and style. No big changes, but just going with the flow and letting the universe do its thing, ya know.
