Today we’d like to introduce you to Boodah Darr.
Hi Boodah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, my pops was a Dj and my moms was a fashion designer (they still are), so music & fashion been in the blood. I started writing around 14, was listening to heavy Wayne on my brother’s psp. I was never the “cool kid”, so writing became my escape. Got in my first studio in high-school, shoutout to G. Flat. Me and the homies started a small group to perform at the talent shows, called “noname”, that was pretty lit at that age. From there, went to college & fell into the books even though I was failing. I stopped writing as much. So I left school to get back in the studio. In 2015, I dropped my first single on SoundCloud, “Almighty” & it did surprisingly good. I told myself that was going to be my only drop. Ended up dropping a mixtape in 2016, “Almighty EP”, that brought me a bit of buzz and helped me begin to establish my style and sound. 2017, I dropped my first LP “Cheatcodes”, which over time fans grew to appreciate, and is still some of their favorite music by me till this day. In 2019, I moved to Atlanta and dropped “Almighty 2”, which didn’t do too well numbers wise but the fans was still rocking with me. Since then, I’ve been locked in the studio with some crazy producers, Spice God, 808 Fierce, Vitaminboy, working on bring yall the hardest shit you’ve heard thus far.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, the road has been a smooth one for me. It ain’t been all peachy though. I’ve had my fair share of fake friends, non-supportive cast members, some legal troubles, and just all around being in a city thats looked over so often. So that forces me to work x10 and make sure all my moves count. Other than that, It’s been pretty steady. I can’t complain.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I go by BoodahDARR, a.k.a Big Demi from Milwaukee, WI. I’m a man of many talents, music being my main passion. I would say my sound is wild, darth-vader, emotion-filled, and fun all put on some crazy 808’s. I need my bass. I’ve performed at Summerfest, on tour with my brother IshDARR, opened up for Flocka once (that was crazy). I’m most proud of my evolution as an artist, actually hearing myself grow in the music, testing the boundaries and also the people I’ve met along the way. I think the thing that sets me apart from others the most is I let the music do the talking. I’m always working on my sound, trying new things, and really just focused on creating something I’m happy with and think the fans will enjoy forever.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
On my spare time, I’m a straight computer nerd! I’ve recently been teaching myself how to code, been learning about networks and subnetting. Also, in the process of teaching myself a program called Blender, 3-D design. I’m a heavy gamer, mainly COD, GT: BoodahDARR on Xbox. Get at me.
