Rising Stars: Meet Bertinelli Sound

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bertinelli Sound. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Bertinelli Sound was founded by Leonardo Bertinelli (Sound Engineer and Producer) and Gaia Leone (Producer and Music composer). The goal of this collective is crafting the best-sounding music for the best-sounding products and artists. Bertinelli Sound is a collective born with the common goal of producing Music with a cross-country mentality. Our objective is sharing talents around the US and the world. Leo is more versed into live sound, record-making, record production, mobile recording and mixing, while Gaia is more focused on in-the-box (software-based) production, writing and composition with an interest in commercial writing and film scoring. She’s also an active live bass player and session musician.

We offer both analog and digital recording services that we can easily export worldwide, should the client need it. We’re known for our holistic approach to Production. Artists can come to us with just an “embryo” of a song; we’ll take care of the rest and plan the steps to bring it to completion. At Bertinelli Sound, Artists feel free to express their ideas and their music in a creative environment, where they find the support and hands-on professionalism to bring it all together. Whatever you need, we’re here to help you make an impact. Come to us with your ideas and together, we’ll make the noise you were meant to make. What makes us the proudest is that we actually manage to achieve what we plan and work so hard for. What really matters to us is creating a memorable experience for the client without forcing anything, prioritizing the Artist’s creative process. To us, creating a safe and non-judgemental environment is crucial. Our leadership can be summed up like this: We are enhancers not owners. We try to discover, amplify and protect each Artist’s unique voice. We’re not interested in “pre-packaged” products to be thrown into the mainstream market. What we strive to achieve is originality, earnestness and a profound message. That’s what – we think! – sets us apart.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Having a clear vision is never a guarantee of a smooth road. In fact, you’ll have to go through a lot to protect and honor it. It is tough to choose to work for ourselves during these very uncertain times of pandemic and financial instability. It is tough to build your network and maintain it. It’s a side of the industry not a lot of us really consider until after they’ve experienced it first hand. But doing business, it’s so crucial and it does impact how continuously and efficiently you’ll be able to keep working.

As mentioned earlier, the pandemic sure made us struggle through providing services, inability to meet in person and rescheduling but it also taught us how to reinvent ourselves and come up with new improved services (like our 1-1 Remote Consulting Services for Home Studio Setup and Troubleshooting) that helped us better serve our long-time clients and even meet new ones all around the world.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’d like to let our clients speak on this! 🙂 Our Music Production and Engineering services helped so many diverse projects come to life. Here are some of our absolute favorites:

1) Espacio En Blanco (Colombia). This beautiful cultural and Arts center in the thriving city of Bogotà launched in late 2020 and we are so proud to have provided the Music for its promotional videos. We love its inclusive and dynamic vibe and we are forever grateful to our clients Simon and Theo to have chosen us! Please, go check them out on FB and IG and if you’re in Bogotà, feel free to visit for a contemporary Art exhibition or a stunning DJ set!

2) Capovaticano Resort Thalasso SPA (Italy). This 4 star resort was built in one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes of Southern Italy. We are so happy to have partnered with them to provide on hold Music and voice over for their telephone line services. We can’t wait to be able to travel again to enjoy the views and the sea there!

3) MUSES Project. This women-led collective of Musicians, producers, engineers and performers bravely tells the story of inspirational women around the world. This is a project very near and dear to our hearts and we’re very proud to have been involved in the production and arranging of the first track of their upcoming album which is endorsed by and features the stories of Janna Tamimi (the world’s youngest journalist), Federica Gasbarro (environmental activist) and Elisa Carillo (Award-winning dancer).

4) Tristan Simone (US/Spain). We go way back with Tristan and couldn’t be prouder and happier to have followed him in his journey from the first demos all the way through this year’s edition of #Lollapalooza! Two years ago, we embarked on a crazy fun journey to produce, record, document and release “Music is Dead” that features a very unusual instrument combination for the hip-hop genre. We love you, Tristan!!

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Definitely. I think the most important one is really take the time to know yourself. Know what your goals are and go for it. There will be sacrifice and compromise to be made along the way. But crisis can be also a good way to see things under a different light. Reinvent yourself, don’t be afraid to ask questions and keep pushing. We feel the industry is about to undergo drastic changes even after the COVID emergency per se will attenuate. It’s cool to be witnessing this in person but this also calls for some planning ahead and the wisest decision-making. What we try to do is protecting our clients and goals; to keep them as pure as possible by studying and constantly learning from the different situations and development in the industry.
