Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Wendt.
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born & raised in Orange County, California & moved out to Los Angeles in 2016. I grew up as that kid who never really knew what they wanted to do. I tried the college route multiple times and it never stuck, so I decided to switch up my environment & move to Los Angeles with no desires or goals. I took a course at a private trade school for Physical Therapy since that was the only thing I thought I might have interest in. I discovered Casey Neistat on YouTube & decided to buy a camera for fun, that’s when it all changed. I fell in love with my camera instantly and started taking photos of my friends & then that turned into the birth of Palm Tree Visions! Music has always been my biggest passion, I just didn’t have the skills to make music myself. I started to focus my brand on musicians; cover art, editorial photoshoots & much more. I then became obsessed with video & started creating music videos for everyone in my community! I continue to make music videos & have now launched my Interview Show titled “Their World” which is where I have an open honest conversation with incredible musicians about everything from their music to what they think they would have done with their life if music didn’t exist. I consumed so much long format content related to musicians that I figured I should make what I enjoy! Their World as well as video production is now my life & I feel so fortunate to have found my purpose in life!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggle throughout my life was always not knowing what I wanted to do, but once I discovered my love for creating visual art and providing a platform for artists to tell their stories, everything fell into place. It’s all just sort of clicked for me & it really feels like I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing. Of course, there is always obstacles when you’re trying to grow a business and brand, but I’ve found that being genuine and transparent with a good work ethic is all you really need to succeed.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Palm Tree Visions is my company which it’s sole purpose is to bring awareness to incredible artists. That happens through photography, music videos, interviews, featured showcases, etc. I think I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve created with artists I’ve worked with, the majority of them have become my friends which is such a beautiful thing.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I think the most important lesson I’ve learned is to take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come in all areas. We get so obsessed with moving forward that we don’t notice how much we’ve achieved. I’ve worked with people I listened to as a kid, I’ve been to amazing places cause of my job, the list goes on & if you told my younger self all of that, I wouldn’t have believed you.
