Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Johnson.
Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2011, I created my brand management and public relations agency ANJPR Consulting, LLC. Since I’ve consulted with national brands to include AARP, BET Networks, Essence and Walt Disney World Resort providing talent/influencer management, red carpet escorting, and media coordination. My agency has provided corporate strategic partnerships with local talent and social influencers in Los Angeles, D.C. and New York.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a successful professional, entrepreneur and community leader comes with creating healthy boundaries to limit fatigue and restlessness. Over time, I’ve learned to create a healthy work/life balance in order to best manage and oversee a growing brand/pr agency with interns and freelancers in addition to building my professional career which requires networking, development and continuous hands-on experience.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started my professional career in business development at a government consulting firm for several years. Shortly after, I began my entrepreneurial journey in 2011, then later transitioned to integrated communications and marketing for AARP, the nation’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people to choose how they live as they age. Within my six years in multiple roles, I’ve managed strategic partnerships, integrated communications & marketing, event production and consumer experience. My gift and passion for telling stories and creating impactful outreach/partnerships to evolve communities has led me to work with the most prominent organizations and leaders globally within my career and business endeavors. My goal is to advance underserved communities and elevate generational healing through servitude and my coaching services on business, personal, and professional development.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Lesson #1: Self-care and mindfulness should be the #1 priority in everyone’s lives. Centering yourself is vital to your overall well-being especially in a global pandemic those facing racial fatigue. Creating a daily mindfulness regimen of meditation, prayer, journaling, and stretching can alleviate anxiety, stress and worry.
Lesson #2: Community is more important now than ever. Although we are socially distanced, it doesn’t mean we should be isolated. Being connected with a healthy group of like-minded individuals with similar values and purpose can hold you accountable when life gets hard.
Lesson #3: No one gets a cut card, everyone has to leave this Earth one day. We don’t know the time nor hour, that’s why we must treat people right and let your hair down and live life to the fullest. I want to make sure when I leave this Earth, I am proud with the legacy I lived and the lives I touched.
Lesson #4: Financial legacy requires patience and discipline. You must have a plan aka budget, and stick to it! Being locked in the house is a perfect time to start or catch-up on living a debt-free life.
