Meet Zylia Knowlin of Black Girls Write 2

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zylia Knowlin.

Zylia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I always loved writing and exploring creative ways to express myself verbally. I love to showcase my talents in various ways and writing is one way that helps me to release my innermost beauty. I began my first book while on a month long trip to Jamaica when I emerged myself into following the dream of publishing a book began.

During the summer of 2017, I crafted my first book. I am working on my next book which is entitled 1991, which is the story of women of color at PWIs (Predominately White Institutions). It is scheduled to be released December of this year.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to success has been smooth with a few challenges however, I will not let anything stop me from achieving my goals. Some of the struggles include finding the motivation when I feel alone. The struggles include staying focused and aligned to the road map that I created for myself. The struggles include always remembering that I am a role model and that people are always watching to see what I do.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Black Girls Write 2 – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My business provides professional writing services to all clients. Additionally, I provide author coaching services as well as editor services. I will ghostwrite for clients as well. I have created a course for author coaching for clients that do not have a starting point for their manuscript, this course outlines all viable parts of constructing a publishable manuscript. This course includes twenty templates and two digital journals that takes aspiring authors through a step by step process of writing a book. What sets my business apart is the one to one relationship that I foster with each client to provide social and emotional support every step of the way.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to continue to expand my business and publishing more books. In addition, I want to reach a bigger audience as a public speaker and continue to influence people in a positive manner. I am planning my first book tour next year. Furthermore, I will continue to host author zoom calls to network with others in the field.
