Meet Zev Lerner of Zeel Media in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zev Lerner.

Zev, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My filmmaking journey started out in my childhood backyard making horror movies with my brother Ari. Following this passion naturally led me to film school at SDSU and then moving to Los Angeles where I began working on TV, commercials and music video shoots.

While working within the traditional film industry, I noticed a huge problem: Brands throwing tons of money into video content, without ever seeing real business results.

So I decided to start my own company, Zeel Media, which solves that by taking a marketing approach to video production. To date, we have helped over 100 clients grow their audiences, launch new products, stay top of mind with their existing customers, and save time through video automation.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any sentient lifeform, I’ve had plenty of challenges and obstacles to overcome. Understanding the sacrifices that were made in order for me to have the opportunity to “try things and fail” is what grounds me to push through anything.

Please tell us about Zeel Media.
Zeel Media is a video marketing agency focused on helping brands and businesses get noticed in today’s noisy digital world.

What separates us from other media companies, is that we don’t just make beautiful films that tell captivating stories. We understand how different types of video content and distribution actually affect a business’s bottom line, and we develop a deep understanding of our client’s goals in order to create custom business solutions.

The core of our company is video production, but we also offer many related services including digital marketing, advertising, graphic design, photography, live streaming, podcasting, and more. In practice, this allows us to produce anything from bite-size social touchpoints, all the way up to full-scale content creation and social media management.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory was editing my first film in iMovie, which is the default editing software for Apple computers. Before that, we would film everything on Hi8 tapes, and do all of the editing, effects, and sound design in camera. This was the first time I was able to incorporate compositing, music, and titles into my films, and it really cemented my love of filmmaking.
