Meet Zeinab Ghais of Studio ZG in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zeinab Ghais.

Zeinab, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always had love for color and textures. Growing up I had the luxury of living overseas, which surrounded me with culture and the outdoors. As I grew up I was always told that I had great vision and could look at a room and know just were to put things. In 1991, I attended, Savannah College of Art & Design, earning a BFA in Furniture Design and a minor in Art History. During and after college I studied under a master faux finisher, to expand my skills. At that time there wasn’t a lot of opportunity as a Furniture Designer, so I began to migrate back to Interior Design and Landscape Design. I have always had a knack for color, space planning and a green thumb, which made the transition an easy fit. I also continued to paint, since I didn’t have a space to make furniture anymore. Over the years I have had the pleasure of co-owning an antique store, an Art Gallery and a Home Furnishing/Art Gallery with friends. This allowed me to have a studio to paint and meet with all my clients. Since returning to LA, I have primarily been working out of my home with clients.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has fairly been a smooth road, however being self-employed comes with its challenges. When I first moved to LA back in 2008, I was fortunate to have been sought out by Smith & Noble, a premium window-ware company. This allowed me to learn more about how to decorate windows and work with new clients every day. During this time, I was lucky to be a designer on the White Room Challenge, with HGTV. In 2013, I moved back to Texas to help my family and stayed three years before returning to LA. The hardest challenge so far was investing in retail businesses, no matter how successful you are.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Studio ZG – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Since I don’t focus on one aspect of design, it seemed better to brand myself as Studio ZG. I specialize in Interior Design & Decorating, Fine Art and Landscape Design. I am known for my clean design style and only showcasing what really matters. I am most proud of my ability to listen to my clients’ needs and make their home a reflection of them, not myself. I have been told I have an infectious charm and ability to bring passion to everything I do. I am truly satisfied when my clients are happy with the end result. What thrills me the most is when a client says, “Can you paint me something to go on that wall?”. I have come to realize that I can paint just about anything and revel in the challenge.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In my immediate future I will be gaining a painting studio, in the heart of Hollywood, which will allow me to work on a larger scale for myself and my clients.

My long term goal is to combine all my passions under one roof, combining my love of Art, Design and Pilates.
