Meet Zee Smith of Not Just Baby Sitters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zee Smith.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Zee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I worked with children and wanted to find a way to connect other people to families. I met a lot of educated, kind nannies who were great and I knew plenty of families so it became a natural matchmaking of sitters with families. I then also became a mother and experienced how using the service was helpful firsthand. My client base grew entirely from word of mouth and includes celebrities, high profile families, two working parent families, stay at home parent families, etc. Mom and Dad, Two Moms, Two Dads, One Mom, One Dad, adopted children, IVF children, fostered children, blended families etc. representing how life is with modern families everywhere. The beauty was the convenience to have access to childcare at any time. I grew from Los Angeles, to NYC, and now to San Francisco as well. We also serve smaller cities where our clients vacation or travel to making sure they always have a NJBS sitter available to them.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Ironically, when I became a mother, some of my clients were really fearful that I wouldn’t have the same level of commitment that I had previously. The reality was that I was very committed to my clients and was even scheduling and taking calls during labor. There was a bit of a dip as they all settled in and I saw I had to work harder to convince them that this business would continue on.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Not Just Baby Sitters Inc. – what should we know?
Not Just Baby Sitters Inc is a childcare concierge. Clients call, text, email with any childcare needs whether a random date night or a full-time nanny. A travel nanny or an after school camp counselor. We handle all of the above and have very high standards for our nannies. I am most proud of the connections that we focus on. We want relationships, not revolving doors. We want the sitters we represent to love children passionately and want to work happily. We pride ourselves on friendly faces and flexible places representing many cities. We also value education and look for sitters that are pursuing college degrees or have completed one or more. I am also extremely accessible and are easy to reach and quick to respond.

My daughter and husband are consistent cheerleaders, advocates and supporters. I am fortunate to have a home team that cheers me on daily.
