Today we’d like to introduce you to Yiqun Zhou.
Yiqun, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was attracted by the cultural diversity and spiritual freedom of U.S. When the opportunity came, I moved to the U.S from Beijing in 2009 as a postdoc fellow.
2011, met my husband who is loving, fearless and inspiring, which changes my perspective on life. At the meanwhile, it brings out the cultural and value shocks.
2012, I followed my husband and moved back to Shanghai, where he was assigned as Asian Pacific Sales Director. I was a stay home housewife. Again, the value gap between me and my husband brings out my desire to enter the business world.
2013, I started my industry journey in Pharma Giant Roche as a Chinese working in a western company in China. When western business value meets transitional Chinese generation, challenge penetrate all my life. At the same time, I discovered that I am fascinated with the challenge and enjoyed the fails and triumphs.
2017, my husband and I decided to move back to the U.S. I took advantage of the reputation I have built up in Pharma and physicians, together with the business strategy that my husband helped me with, EME Pharma Consultants was established. Instead of actively seeking for clients, EME Pharma Consultants attract right amount of clients, including physicians, biotech, and Investment company. And receive 100% of the payment and good feedback.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road for EME Pharma Consultants.
Finding the market niche with my Chinese perspective in Western market is one of the struggles. It ends up my client are all Chinese even though I am physically working in the United States.
Scale the business is another struggles, even though I have the standard rate card for each service item. Trading my limited 24 hours for profit is hard to scale.

EME Pharma Consultants was founded by Dr. Yiqun Zhou, who recognized that doctors/scientists do need manuscript assistance to transform their research into insights. They need someone with subject research expertise and savvy medical publication norms who could improve the clarity and impact of the data. Dr. Zhou helped numerous doctors publish papers in SCI journals and delivered publication workshops to improve doctors’ writing skills. If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would only target Chinese Oncologists who have the needs to promote their scientific research capability.
