Meet Wonji Grace Lee of Grace Yourself in Koreatown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wonji Grace Lee.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always had an interest in fashion and beauty growing up. I never made the decision to go to school for them but somewhere along the line of just living life as a typical college student, I was inspired to start up my own personal blog. It’s been about 3 years or so since I started blogging and I have been learning a lot about myself through it. Being a blogger and an influencer means that there is a need for me to kind of be more out there than not, especially because the kind of blogging I do is not for my own keep but also for the eyes of the readers/followers. That means that I need to be pretty consistent with the content I am creating and uploading, as well as being inspired to create content that will interest both myself and my readers. I still have a lot to learn and improve on but I have been enjoying it and learning a lot from it.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely was not a smooth road. I don’t have a nice camera nor a designated photographer. Style of photos to the actual quality of the photos was a constant struggle. Even if I envisioned it one way, it was hard for that vision to come to life because I can’t shoot myself — someone else had to and not everyone can take photos good enough for my liking. Another on-going struggle is the layout of my actual website. I am not a tech savvy person and I struggle with the visual aspect of my website. I am not at a financial place where I am willing to spend money on a nice layout but I am also struggling to find the tools to revamp the website on my own.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I run a personal blog that is mainly for fashion. I post photos of outfits or looks that I like and enjoy, whether it’s of myself or of my friends. I definitely update my Instagram page a lot more often than the blog page, and I also post more of a variety of content on my Instagram page. I feature not just fashion but food, beauty, lifestyle, etc. What sets my blog page apart from other blogs is that it’s not always all about me. I enjoy featuring my friends and their fashion, as I have a lot of fashionable friends.

What were you like growing up?
I was always an introverted extrovert. I enjoy being with people and I can be quite extroverted and crazy with friends once that awkward barrier is broken. If I was super introverted, I don’t think I would have been able to put myself out there like I do on my blog page and Instagram account. I have always loved clothes, and I have always loved makeup/beauty related things. Although I am not a professional, I have done make up for other people for special occasions in the past as well.
