Meet Whitney Whitaker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Whitaker.

Whitney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got started with Styling by working in the fashion industry by modeling that has lead me to my passion projects styling as a young child. I took a break to travel around the world and worked with none profits that abolish human trafficking.

I was the team photographer when traveling and would always be drawn to capture the traditional dressing of each tribe, body paint and the fabrics. I would always get chosen to be dressed in the tribal clothing it was such an honorable experience that inspires me to this day to create a story of the beautiful people I have met.

When I came back to the states I was also managing brand’s social media accounts that have lead me into more styling while marketing because the creative direction is important. Then from that point in my life, I started emailing and finding people I could really learn from, so I would take those people out to coffee or dinner and made connections that have increased my career. I have been assisting other stylist and working on my projects as a published stylist.

Has it been a smooth road?
The fashion industry is actually hard to crack into and I’m far from arriving. The struggle is living in LA and having a serious career or even being taken seriously in this world of fashion. Test shoots are something that keeps my vision on track and only working with those who get your vision is also complicated but when you find the gems it works well.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a Wardrobe Stylist who is an architect for overall looks and one’s confidence. My creativity is based on bold shapes and inspired by all of the countries I have lived in around the world. I specialize in creating a wardrobe and set design. People know me as the connector with an incredible team. I am based out of Los Angeles California as well as Worldwide. I do anything from E-commerce to editorial and even styling clients with their personal wardrobe.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the warm weather, landscape ( because it reminds me of Australia ) and the views. I don’t like the issue of homelessness here and I will say I love how the community is stepping up to help.
