Today we’d like to introduce you to Whilly Bermudez.
Hi Whilly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I became exposed to marketing early on when I was a bouncer at several clubs. Since creativity has always been my strong suit, I really enjoyed watching the promoters create themes and concepts that would take serious planning. I figured that I wanted to try my hand at promoting a nightclub- I was probably 18 years old at the time.
I finally mustered the courage to approach one of the hottest clubs on South Beach at the time. It was called Pacha. Myself and a promoting partner got the owners to agree to give us a shot, but little did we realize that they gave us the most difficult night of week. This made trying to get the masses over to Pacha on a Thursday night nearly impossible and so we colossally failed. But in this failure, I learned several lessons and didn’t quit.
In less than one year, I became one of the most popular club promoters on the scene. My name recognition and reputation grew significantly and before I knew it, I had become one of the better-known names in club promotions and concerts from 1995 until 2008- when I finally decided to retire and embark upon new challenges.
Through my almost 1000+ events produced, I learned about planning, branding, design, and leading a team. I applied this experience to starting a small marketing consulting business where I write marketing plans, develop websites & mobile apps for clients. Within the same span of time, I also lent my services full-time to corporations as their Marketing Director or Chief Marketing Officer. While I can market anything, the three main industries where I posses the most experience is media, hospitality, and healthcare.
Today, I continue to work full-time as the head of marketing along with my business serving clients that have been with me for many years. But my latest project is a weekly podcast called the ‘WB Podcast’. Each week, myself and my guests tackle the most interesting topics related to World News, Business, and Positive Living.
In addition to the WB Podcast, I also created another weekly podcast called ‘BIZ 305’. Here, interview business owners and highlight their services, strengths, and their customer testimonial videos. It’s a pretty unique concept to the South Florida market.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing comes easy. Like any good story, I have had plenty of failures, heartbreak, and tough lessons. I can’t imagine anything being simple in life. But the value in it, all are always the meaning within any obstacle. Life is about trying to pushing forward, sometimes success will reveal itself and sometimes destiny tells you what you need another lesson.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional marketer going on 23 years. My scope is service clients of any industry and working as a head of marketing in corporate America. Beyond that, I’m a podcast host and I really enjoy that. It’s like having your own TV Show or radio station.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Only that anything that looks good or sounds good (professional speaking) never materializes overnight. The part that no one sees are those challenges, those late nights, and even some tears.
