Meet Warren Lee of Ace High Casino Rentals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Warren Lee.

Ace High Casino Rentals was founded by Brandon Hall during the poker craze of 2005. He was trying to sell an old poker table on craigslist, but instead of selling the table he ended up renting it out a few times for more than the asking price. The rental sparked a business idea and Ace High was launched out of his apartment in downtown San Diego.

After 4 years of growing Ace High he found himself in a unique business dilemma. He had become a co-founder of One Hope Wine in 2007, and his role as CMO at One Hope became too demanding for him to manage Ace High. He was thinking of giving up, putting the tables in storage, and putting Ace High on hold.

Starting off as just a blackjack dealer, Warren Lee worked his way up at Ace High to manage events, deliver tables, and built a relationship with Brandon over the years. Just when Brandon was looking for something to do with Ace High Warren was looking for his first job out of college. Warren offered to start running Ace High full time in the summer of 2010 and the two of them formed a partnership.

Warren took what Brandon had started and built Ace High into a company that was doing events all throughout Southern California and providing a decent full-time job for himself. Once Ace High had grown to a new level, the third partner, Louis Teng, came in. Louis’ operational expertise in the event world plus a natural talent for customer service completed the team. Louis has been the face and driving force for Ace High the past four years, and was key in making Ace High the leading casino rental company in Southern California.

Ace High is now running over 350 casino events annually throughout Southern California. The company is continuing to produce fabulous casino parties, and now has a showroom and warehouse in Orange County.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Almost all of the struggles at Ace High have been growing pains. We’ve been very fortunate to have a great staff made up of 200+ dealers throughout San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, and Riverside that are the heart of our events. Managing everyone is a challenge, but thanks to the customized web calendar Ace High uses for staffing, and our tech savvy dealers, we’re able to get 100’s of people to events all over California.

The road often feels like a challenge as we hit certain hurdles. I remember the first night we had 7 events. I spent weeks working out a day plan that had a ton of people servicing all these events in three different counties. Once the day came all I could do is sit back and hope everything went according to plan. Thanks to our awesome staff there weren’t any issues, and now we look forward to the nights with multiple events.

Some of the “we’ve made it” moments have come when doing parties at outstanding venues such as the W in Hollywood, the Playboy Mansion, Disneyland, and others. Also, putting together casino nights for celebrity birthdays and big corporations have been proud achievements for Ace High.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ace High Casino Rentals story. Tell us more about the business.
Ace High sets out to bring the excitement and style of 21st century Vegas to California. Once we combined a team of excellent dealers, high end casino tables, and intimate customer service we found a market of people looking for the best casino themed parties in California.

There are several companies based in California that provide a similar service. What makes Ace High different is our commitment to focusing on our niche. Ace High only does casino parties, and we do 100’s of them. We leave renting lights, stages, bounce houses, and everything else to other companies; Ace High just does the best casino parties. Because we do so many casino nights we’re able to hire the best dealers and use the finest casino gaming equipment that is custom made for us in Los Angeles.

Event planners know that if they’re going to work for weeks or months planning a single night that will only happen once they want to go with a casino vendor that always delivers consistent high quality. The work Ace High has done over the years had gotten us reputation for that high quality they can trust, along with a 5 star rating on yelp. Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Personally the best luck for me has been meeting Brandon and Louis. When I offered to run Brandon’s company while I was still in college I never could have imagined how big Ace High would become.

I met Louis while working as a server at Red Lobster while still in college. He’s been crucial in keeping Ace High on a steady growth track, and all our clients love him.

It was some of the best luck meeting both of them in such unique ways.
