Meet Warren Brand of Branded Arts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Warren Brand.

Warren, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in LA and went to public school. This is really where I first developed a profound interest in the arts. I was surrounded by a lot of artists and creatives growing up. My mom was a studio painter, and my dad collected vintage movie posters and rock & roll memorabilia. He was also a huge film buff. In school, I did better in art history than history because it was easier to grasp things if I had a visual aid.

In my mid 20’s I entered the art world on the collection and curation side, organizing group art exhibitions with different charity groups and later on public art projects and installations. I started Branded Arts in 2010, and since then we have commissioned and executed over 400 public and private art projects in over 50 cities around the world.

Along with the rest of our team, we look to pair artists with companies and individuals who can support their work financially. Some of our most notable Branded Art projects include IO Playa Vista, The Sunset Media Center, The Continental Grand Plaza, The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and many more.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some projects over the years have been more difficult than others. Every project we take on has its own set of variables that need to be addressed. For every project that we work on, we always aim to make everyone involved happy with the project while still maintaining the artist’s artistic integrity. Our priority is to never jeopardize the authenticity of the artwork. We want artists to have the freedom to do their best work always!

Branded Arts – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Branded Arts offers a full spectrum of artistic services for communities and corporate settings alike. Whether it’s signature murals, sculptures, paintings, or pieces for full-scale development, we take care of every detail from the concepts to the installation.

With years of experience as curators and consultants, our staff has backgrounds in architecture, design, gallery planning, and production. I’d say that my favorite part of any project is seeing the reaction of the participants when it’s all said and done.

The artist gets to share their artwork with a community on a large scale, so it’s a really exciting experience for everyone involved. I think what sets us apart from others is the amount of passion that we have for creating top quality art projects and working with our favorite artists.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
One of my favorite projects was the Robert F. Kennedy Mural Festival in Los Angeles, where we recruited 30 artists to paint a series of murals throughout the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools during a one-week span.

Not only were murals painted throughout the week, but we transformed the school library into a gallery exhibition space featuring work from all of the participating artists, as well as artwork from over 200 students! This was definitely one of the best projects of my career thus far, but I have a long way to go!
