Meet Wajahat Khan and Shahriar Azim of Red Shadow Pictures in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wajahat Khan and Shahriar Azim.

Wajahat and Shahriar, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started a couple of years ago, we produced a short film ‘Widh’ which is a short about an old man who considers the value of his life after an encounter with his neighbor. The short turned out to be one of our finest works. It was accepted in some of the festivals and won the Audience Choice Award at the Ojai short film festival. It’s a small start for us but definitely gave us confidence. Currently, we are working on our first Feature film “American Anomie”, a hyperlink cinema that tells the story of four characters who deals with the effects of being displaced in a marginalized society. We just finished the proof of concept short film for that and here is the official poster for our new upcoming film American Anomie (short).

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road as we faced difficulties that most new independent filmmakers face. First of all raising, enough finance is the biggest challenge but we are grateful to people in our community that assisted us in many ways. It includes people owning small businesses as well as professionals who are already in the film industry. Secondly, we had to look for people that got involved in our project. We are thankful to people that are supporting us, it is their continuous support that we are achieving bigger things by the day.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Red Shadow Pictures Inc. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We founded Red Shadow Pictures to be able to focus on production, financing, and distribution of original content for the global marketplace. We believe in effective storytelling. We want to tell unique stories that will inspire and catalyze us for change.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are planning to spread the word about our company, we are looking for different projects that fit our criteria and mission. Moreover, we are spreading our network beyond borders, we are looking to produce content from different parts of the world that will represent other cultures and will give a broader perspective about the stories to the viewers.
