Meet Viviana Reyes Estrada of Viviana Reyes Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Viviana Reyes Estrada.

Viviana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started taking photographs of friends and family at a very young age, in Elementary school. For some reason, I’ve always had this drive and passion for capturing people in this still art form. It’s something I can’t get rid of .. this nagging desire to create art for clients in a way that evokes emotion and stirs up feelings for years to come.

I graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in 2006 with a B.A. in Portrait Photography. Before Brooks, I studied the art of film photography in Community college and quickly realized how much this needed to be my career. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road.. that wouldn’t be very exciting… and not realistic. Even though I love what I do and I have a driving passion to continue excelling in this field, doesn’t mean things come easy or jobs just line up one after another.

Being in business for yourself takes a lot of dedication — a tremendous amount of faith in yourself and your art. I would say the number of struggles for me in this field is confidence and comparison. Two things I have learned deal with and overcome.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Viviana Reyes Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a portrait and event photographer & recently also added food photographer to my list of specialties. Working with Chef Lori Miller the owner of Gluten Free Globalicious, doing food styling and photography for restaurants who hire us for recipe development and menu revamping.

From families to weddings to Quinceaneras… I am proud to take on the responsibility my clients trust me with to capture their life’s most important moments. I take the job very seriously. The moments I capture are once in a lifetime.. they pass by so quickly… I take great pride in capturing those moments for my clients and their families.

I also get a bit emotional at events… such as weddings and quinces. I always cry during the father-daughter dance no matter how much I try to stay focused I can’t help it and I end up in tears watching the magical moment from behind my camera. That’s part of the job.. up close and personal.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve been blessed with incredible friends, family, and clients that love me and that constantly recommend me to other people.

I am so grateful and thankful to all of them for all of their love and support. It’s not luck its years of loving what I do and letting that show in my work and thru my happy clients.
