Meet Victor Cantey of VCVisions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Cantey.

Victor, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Foster care has been a battleground for my health. I lost myself in the midst of it all. I struggled with self-love, depression, & finding my purpose. Through photography, I truly found freedom. Which allowed for what I truly love to have the ability to find me. I will always be thankful for unforgiving beauty.

My relationship with beauty has grown beyond a word that has no limit. Everyday when I share a step in the world, I see something beautiful in everyone. From aesthetics to the essence of their soul, I discovered beauty.

I specialize in beauty and fine-art photography. I always like to remind myself that I’m a poet/storyteller first, which means I do my best to portray my client’s story through my imagery with lighting techniques and my expertise.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge is staying focused and managing time. I get invited to parties and events that I have to frequently decline because I’m not where I want to be yet and drinking at a bar won’t help. The catch, though is that sometimes I do have to attend said events because of networking opportunities, which could potentially be the client, mentor, or investor who propels VCVisions to the next level. It’s a fun journey, I must say.

VCVisions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
VCVisions assists in marketing by producing powerful and inspiring media that portrays your story. We are known for creating striking images that provoke thought and emotion, from creative concepts to glamorous beauty portraits, we exceed expectations.

VCVisions also focuses on video production for musicians, comedians, brands, and more.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My client compensated me with a round-trip flight and hotel in Manhattan, New York for a full week during the time of my birthday (Feb 9th), to shoot NYFW. Which lead to 30 of my images getting featured in I-Fashion Magazine and the producer for one of the shows said I was the best photographer there and wants me on his team. He’s flying me out to Miami in July to shoot Miami Swim Week.
