Today we’d like to introduce you to Varun Gandhi.
Varun, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out enthusiastic about wanting to make a change in our environment. Armed with a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and a specialization in clean drinking water, I went into this world wanting to make a change. I realized soon that this career didn’t make me feel alive.
Over the last seven years, I have reengineered my internal environment through the power of meditation. This transformation occurred through a bad break up that threw my life in a spiral. This experience led me to meditation and a deep understanding of my inner environment. Now my goal is to pass it onto others through lectures, events, and experiences. How do I go about doing this?
I run the HOESEA Meditation Center at Sanatan Dharma Temple, based in Norwalk, CA, where we organize experiences provided by masters of various crafts such as Full Chakra Activation, Ayurveda, Tai Chi, Movement Meditation and Kemetic Yoga. At the Meditation Center, we’ve created several programs that upgrade the lives of people. We do this through a two-step process. First, during the BREAKDOWN phase, we deconstruct mental patterns and replace with positivity. Then second, we BUILD UP by orchestrating their renewed spirit, body and mind to create a vision that serves the people and taking the necessary steps to achieve that vision.
Along with these experiences, I organize a wellness festival called Spiritual Block Party which combines the above-mentioned experiences with music, vegan food, holistic vendors, businesses and showcasing healthy products.
I also created a program called ‘What’s Your Story?’ that teaches people to identify their current story and rewrite it to align with their purpose. In addition to hosting webinars and in-person seminars on this topic, I also interview soulpreneurs about their journey and feature it on my YouTube channel.
Each lecture, each event, each experience has one thing in common – you feel differently at the end of the session. Once you feel differently, you’re on the path to transformation. We are most proud of the work we do with transforming people’s lives and setting them up for success.
While spirituality and improving lives have been a mainstay, I am a founding member of an organization called Gujarati Society of Southern California, which unites more than 10,000 members of the community in the Los Angeles, Orange County & Riverside regions. This is a cultural organization connecting people through music, dance, celebration, and festivities. We have arranged celebrations for 1,000 people and the 2-day Gujarati Unity Festival where 4,000 people celebrated our unity in life. I am the President of the youth chapter and I envisioning strengthening the roots of this organization by bringing the youth together.
With skills in producing events, organization and my love for helping others, I call myself the Life Orchestrator.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is always smooth, but it’s never a straight line. This is the mindset I move forward with.
I’ve faced obstacles at every step of the way, many of them are internal. Based on Astrology, I’m a Sagittarius Sun with Gemini Rising and Moon. The fiery Sag traveler comes with a moody and flighty Gemini. So my challenge is to be able to focus my attention on my goals and pay attention to detail, rather than getting sidetracked by new ideas or people.
Then when I first started down this path, fear was quick to rise up. Sometimes there was so much fear that I’d be paralyzed and couldn’t take action. I created plan after plan, brainstormed ideas, researched concepts and wrote it all down. But the action didn’t follow. So I called it a failure and went on to the next shiny idea.
Learning to say ‘NO’ and discerning when to use it was a critical skill for me to master.
Please tell us about Love Abundance Store.
Along with the meditation center, I started the pop-up and online shop called Love Abundance Store, which promotes healthy and holistic products, handmade by local entrepreneurs, for the improvement of people’s lives. The products range from cleansing like incense and sage; hair and body care; books; and our Love Gang clothing line. The best part of this store is my ability to support local entreprenuers and collaborate with them to feature their products on our website. We’re always open to hearing from spiritual entrepreneurs and would welcome you to reach out!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
With a goal always comes obstacles. Finding a way around the obstacle, the challenge, the problem is one quality I feel is extremely important to success. When dealt with a blow, we panic, lack clarity and critical thinking. Having the attitude that comes what may, we will find a way. This is crucial to move towards success.
