Meet Vanessa Villegas of Vanessa Villegas Art Advisory

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Villegas.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After graduating from New York University in 2006, I returned to Los Angeles where I began my career as a fine art advisor. My first introduction to the fine art scene was managing a contemporary art gallery in WEHO called Ambrogi Castanier, where I first began working with international street artists like Speedy Graphito and Banksy. I decided to open my own fine art advisory at the beginning of 2017, advising both private and corporate collectors. Utilizing my 10 years in the business, I offer my clients insight into collecting blue-chip Contemporary paintings, prints, and sculptures.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think starting a business on your own is never a simple venture. It takes a lot of hard work, patience, and ingenuity. You have to be ready to accept the challenges as they come. The good news is I have been extremely lucky to have amazing and supportive clients. It is important that I give all my clients a superior level of service, and the positive feedback I have received has and continues to be my motivation.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Vanessa Villegas Art Advisory – what should we know?
Vanessa Villegas Art Advisory specializes in 20th Century and Contemporary blue-chip investment-grade fine art. I offer a host of services including everything from fine art acquisitions to corporate collections management. Being a fine art advisory can be similar to an interior designer, using my knowledge and network to help you buy fine art for your home or office.

Depending on your goals for your collection, I can help you define your personal aesthetic to select artworks of beauty and relevance. I may assist everyone from a couple looking for art for their new home, to working with a large corporate office to manage an investment-grade collection.

Additionally, I work hand-in-hand with interior designers and architects on large scale projects including buying art for commercial use such as hotels, restaurants, or commercial spaces.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I am very lucky to have the support of my family, friends, and clients. The person who has continued to be my greatest advocate is my husband, who is my rock. Sometimes this business requires traveling for my clients, working on luxury homes and projects around the world. It is always an easier job knowing someone out there believes in you.
