Meet Vaishali Surve of VS Events – vsevents.us in Irvine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vaishali Surve.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Vaishali Surve and we are a family of three, my wonderful husband, Bipin Surve and lovely 10 year old daughter Uma. They both have been my biggest supporters and critics too. I am a commerce graduate from Mumbai University. My strong pillar is my mother, Supriya kadam, whose constant advice and support has made me what I am today.

We have been living in US past 10 years. I had to reinvent my professional life when we decided to make the land of opportunity – US, our home. I realized since I love learning, I am passionate about marketing and dancing, therefore my redesigned professional life had to purposely revolve around these pivotal points.

While seeking my professional qualifications, wherein I finished training and achieved certification as Scrum Master and Salesforce Admin, I also indulged my creative side by performing and teaching dance. Once my dance academy – Bollywood Rhythm took birth, I took flight as a dance teacher. In the course of 7 years, I have taught many kids and their moms to synchronize their steps with pulsating beat of Bollywood.

My marketing and customer service background inspired me to create a one stop shop for many who wanted to shop online. UBS one stop shop’s origin and success helped me to explore the vast potential of Online Marketing. Expansion became next logical step and my marketing company VS Events was launched.

I have in the course of the past 6 years hosted various events for the Irvine Temple, these events celebrate and showcase Indian culture. I have been fortunate to be at the helm of the events which celebrate the Festival of colors Holi, India’s Independence Day and the Festival of Lights, Diwali. My company has also hosted various events which celebrate the power of women. We have hosted Women’s Bazaar which invites women entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services and was covered by CBS Los Angeles online and TV Asia.

Our events like Ladies Night Outs have been sold out events where women get to let their hair down and simply enjoy. My online marketing venture Orange County Women to women is a Facebook group dedicated to women substance, which we all are. I am also very much active in my daughter’s schools and volunteer as a chair for many events and also volunteer for many school events. I have also done my Early Childhood course from IVC and have worked in a preschool. I am also a CERT member and very much involved in Indian community. I like to learn new things and keep myself well informed and well educated.

The community has welcomed an outsider like me, helped me, loved me, made one of their own and I like to give back to community as much as I can.

Has it been a smooth road?
As with life, the road was not always smooth, there were bumps along the way. My biggest priority, then and forever – my daughter Uma, was at that particular juncture, a baby. In giving her the best, finding time to nurture a business was challenging. I was in charge of my dance academy, online business and these responsibilities often vied for my attention while I focused on for bringing up my family in a new country.

Having worked for ten years in India, before migrating to US, I had the acumen to run my own business. However, starting a brand new venture in a different business environment was a daunting factor as well. To get people even to notice what I had to offer was a tough task, but gradually people started noticing my work.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
VS Events is an event coordinator company. I plan and launch events, undertake business promotions and marketing support to help launch and establish new products and businesses.

My company is like my second baby, who I have nurtured with my hard work and talent. My clients love the work I do because I provide them the kind of support one needs when they are laying the foundation to their own business. My guiding principle is to provide them all the support I wish I had when I ventured in the world of business. Having worked on urgent deadlines, even on short notice, we provide excellent service to make the event successful. We work according to the budget of our clients and at the same time make sure quality of service doesn’t suffer.

For me, this venture is more than mere business. It gives me pleasure to be able to bring a smile of satisfaction on the client’s face and encourages me to learn to innovate to make our tomorrow even more fruitful.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes I do feel our city is a good place for businesses like mine. There is lot of talent out there and need for the same, I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to start out their venture, to try in this city. The city is vast, growing and creating many opportunities for others to showcase their talent.
