So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started off working in sales and marketing at different ad firms and companies. I worked all over the country and in every industry. And one thing remained the same, every business I worked with sales and marketing where the biggest concern (as they should be), and they were always separate from one another.
I saw that with this separation there was a disconnect, the two areas of the business had the same goal, but the tactics and strategy to reach that goal were different and often times conflicting. That is why I knew if I could help businesses marry their sales and marketing plans together they would see huge increases in their bottom line… and they did.
The second key component that businesses were missing was the ability to effectively implement these solutions and plans. I could give a business the framework of a great sales and marketing plan and let them know everything they needed to get started, however without anyone there to implement it and get everything started they would eventually fail and be back at square one.
That is why when you work with me and Agency Eighty Four we become a part of your business. We not only create a great plan, but we implement it. We stay with you throughout the process and we train, or even hire the people you need to help your business succeed.
That is how we got to where we are today, we found a need, and then we found a way to solve it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road always has a few bumps in it. But, those bumps, those roadblocks are what make you and your business what they are today. In business and in life you must always be learning, always adapting and finding new ways. The more you can overcome these challenges the stronger you and your business get.
I remember when we starting the “Doing It Different Podcast Road trip”. This was a 45 day trip cross country trip interviewing all our guest in-person. We only came up with the road-trip idea with less than 30 days before we needed to be on the road. This presented many challenges; did we have enough time to find guests? Where would we find sponsors, etc. But, with all those doubts we went for it, and things couldn’t have gone better, it was one of the best experiences of my life. Plus, meeting all the people and gaining all the listeners helped me grow my business and brand 10 fold.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as reaching your goals consistently. In your personal and business life you must set goals, these goals are how you can gauge your success.
I found the best way to set goals is to start with the end in mind. “When I die I want to have done….” Then work back from there: What do you need to have done in 10 years, the 5 years, then 1 year, then a month, a week, a day? This will give you small manageable steps you can take that will eventually lead you to your goal.
