Meet Tyler Ashley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Ashley.

Tyler, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Nashville, TN singing from a young age. It was something I knew that I was meant to do. I was involved in everything from church choir to musical theatre in my community. I went to college at Lipscomb University where I earned my BFA in Musical Theatre.

After completing college, I enlisted in the US Army to fulfill my desire to serve my country. I have spent almost nine years in the Army and to this day, I am still in the Army National Guard proudly serving.

I moved to Los Angeles almost six years ago to pursue my dream of working in the film industry. Soon after moving to LA, I met Jay Denton (Endure Studios), my best friend, and now music producer. I spent a few years auditioning and booked gigs here and there but I didn’t feel fulfilled. Jay and I were having a conversation about my goals, career aspirations, and if I was living in the right place to achieve them. I explained to him how I wanted to get back to where it all started….singing. That’s when Jay and I decided to start working together on music. I hung up the acting goals to solely focus on music.

Since that conversation, I have released four songs, with many more written and to be released in the near future.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For me, it has not been a smooth road- but I find that to be fortunate. I have been met with a lot of friction along the way. Everything from my “survival job”, relationships, finances, to living so far away from family. But I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. It has made me the man I am today and really affects my writing and music style.

I am thankful for the ups and downs along the way. My latest song (“I Can’t”) is actually about thanking those people in my life who told me that I wouldn’t “make it” or those who told me to settle for something more secure and easy.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a singer. I have been professionally trained vocally. Ranging from Broadway to classical music. I have had the honor of singing in many ensembles growing up. So what makes me different is taking my professional training and blending it with my personal experiences thus creating my own unique style.

What sets me apart from other singers is my experiences. Like I mentioned before, I have been serving in the US Army for nine years. I believe that has given me a work ethic and focus that is unmatched. It also gives me a different perspective and has really made me appreciate the freedom of expression through music.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I do not believe in luck. I believe that hard work is what gets you from point A to point B. Nothing has been handed to me and I have worked hard for everything I’ve achieved in my life so far.
