Meet Treasure Merisca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Treasure Merisca.

Treasure, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Treasure Meri. I moved to California four years ago from Stamford, Connecticut. I’m an inspiring dancer and singer. The first four years were very challenging. I struggled a lot and struggled to find a place to live and to find a job. As an inspiring artist, it is necessary to have the tools to move forward. At that time, I didn’t have them. So I ended up going to a lot of auditions, I ended up going into a lot of dance classes and vocal lessons to make my dreams come true. I would not be where I am right now if I didn’t have my closest friends that I met when I moved to California, who’s been there for me when I was going through my struggle. I went through a lot to get to where I am right now in my life.

And I can honestly say where I am right now in my life, feels great. I am currently working on projects with other artists to move forward into my career. I made a promise to myself that regardless of how hard and how much I struggled, I will keep on pushing forward. There are times where I struggle and I’m stagnant in what I’m doing, but I will get myself up, dust myself off and keep trying. I’m learning to encourage myself and believe in myself because without those two things. It is pretty difficult to get to where you want to get to. I thank my family and my friends who’ve been through the tough times with me, especially when I was homeless.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I went through losing my job to losing my place to becoming homeless and having to live in a shelter. At that time, my family didn’t know about my situation. Only my closest friends knew because I didn’t want my family to worry. Having to sacrifice everything for a dream is a really hard pill to swallow. But that’s what I did.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am an artist. But a lot of people know me as Treasure Meri the dancer. I am the most proud of what I do because I am a person who is determined and a person that when they start something, they never quit. That is something that sets me apart from others.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I’ve had close friends and mentors that have been there for me along the way. Without them, it would be difficult to get to where I’m at right now. My boyfriend Ja’quori, my friend Kegan, my friend Aaron, my friend Damion, my friend Jasmine, were all there for me. My mentor Al Thomas Played a significant part in my career. He kept me on the straight path. He kept me focused and reminded me on why I started in my career. I have other mentors like Tony Tzar, Who recently came into my life to help me understand the industry. I give all of these people credit for they deserve it. And of course, my family that’s been there for me. My mom, my dad, my brother, my sister and my brother-in-law, they are the best.
