Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Rollo.
Sabrina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
For most of my life, I pursued my dream of being a professional dancer. In high school, I trained at a performing arts academy and moved from Connecticut to California where I earned a degree in Dance Science from CSU Long Beach. About a year after graduating, I was dancing with a small company and working at a local coffee shop when I met my fiancee. We fell madly in love and quickly started a family. I turned to yoga to keep me flexible and active when it was too challenging to perform with my growing body. As a new mother, I struggled to find my identity and felt lost in the transition. Not only was yoga beneficial to my physical health during the pregnancy and post-natal recovery, but it was also incredibly helpful for my mental wellbeing. In the summer of 2012, I trained to become a certified yoga instructor. This experience opened the door for so much learning and personal growth and I became even more fascinated with alternative and holistic healing.
Since then, I have studied Therapeutic Yoga, Reiki energy healing and most recently, Breathwork. All of these modalities have been powerful in my own evolution, helping me to be a more conscious person, a more present and patient mother and partner, a better version of myself. I feel so grateful to be able to offer this healing work to others.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like the hardest part of anything for me is just getting started. It can be easy to get lost and overwhelmed if you focus on all of the little details instead of just taking the first step. If you’re passionate about what you do, if it truly lights you up, just leap. Trust yourself and learn to listen to your intuition. Challenges will definitely come up, but if you choose to see the lesson thats being offered, you’ll only grow from these experiences. Take the time to develop yourself and your work authentically, you don’t need to compete with a timeline.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Vigor + Sage – what should we know?
I’m so grateful to do this work, to offer to others the holistic tools that have helped me heal and elevate. Through mindful movement, energy healing, and conscious breathing, we can release stuck emotions and old stories that are holding us back and come into alignment with our highest self.
I love being able to work with clients who don’t live anywhere near me. Distance Reiki sessions are my favorite to facilitate. I am always amazed at how powerful the connection is no matter the distance. I also really love holding space for group healing. There is something magical and inspiring about connecting with a supportive group while honoring your personal expansion.
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
This is such a loaded question, one with so many valid answers. Female leadership faces so many barriers, I think one of the biggest today is still the lack of respect for women in general. Women can bring so much to the table and I appreciate those strong women that are using their voices for the benefit of us all.
