Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Kheang.
Rebecca, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey with eyebrows started when I was much younger. I was always intrigued by fuller eyebrows. Growing up, I lacked eyebrow hairs and suffered from spending too much time each morning filling in my eyebrows and making sure they’re symmetrical. I started searching for a solution – this was when I found out about semi-permanent makeup. After getting my eyebrows tatted, I notice I started to make eyebrow contact before making eye contact with every person I met… I became obsessed with eyebrows.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, definitely not a smooth road. There were challenges I faced – in the beginning, I struggled with paying my studio rent. I wasn’t making enough money from my business to push rent; I borrowed money from my boyfriend at times. My advice for other women who are just starting their journey is to: 1. trust the process, 2. do you! (don’t worry about what others are doing) and 3. believe that in the end, your success will overcome your struggles.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Beccs Brows – what should we know?
I am a semi-permanent make up artist and I specialize in creating fuller eyebrows, smudge-proof lipstick and stardust eyeliner. As an artist, I focus on creating brows based on one’s natural brow structure and shape preference. I believe that at the end of the day, these are my client’s brows and it is my passion to enhance their beauty. A few weeks ago, I came across a cancer patient who touched my heart. She battled cancer for 8 years and the chemotherapy treatments left her with no eyebrow hairs. After hearing her story and struggle, it wasn’t in my heart to charge her for a set of eyebrows so I decided to add more meaning to my business. Recently, I came up with a one for one: “for every new eyebrow service booked, I will donate a set of eyebrows to any cancer patient/survivor.” Up until today, I’ve sponsored about 3 (who all were required doctor’s clearance prior to procedure) and I look forward to connecting with a local cancer center to sponsor more. Beccs Brows will also be hosting 1 on 1 private training in the near future.
