Today we’d like to introduce you to Preet Srivastava.
Preet, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up drawing on books, desks, walls, mirrors, windows, sidewalks, floors, leather sofas, you get the point. I was usually kicked out for this. Until recently, where people actually started to buy my cabinets, walls, jeans, jackets, shirts and bags; on “queenpreet collection” and “preetworks” through Etsy.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I oil paint the abstract figure in landscape in an impressionistic expressionistic style. All people and places are beautiful. And if people feel love, my work is done. My message is to follow the medium, whether it is yoga, paint, or music. My inspiration is the process and product that comes through a FreeStyle movement that is guided from the unknown.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
As an artist, I define success by actually being able to make a living as an Artist because you are original and cutting the edge before a corporation steals it from you. I think it’s unfortunate when you have to be or do something else to make a living. the level of Art in the community gets worse because the Artist isn’t making Art. The Artist can’t call themselves an Artist because everything is “Art”. The Art has become marketing robots, trendy, and interior design paintings. the Artist doesn’t get paid. Is it a job if you cant get paid ? What is a real Artist ? real Art ? The difference is quite clear, and perhaps to each his own. Very few can paint like Picasso, except villages in India that did it before him. So, success would be if you were still able to survive amongst all odds. My favorite app is the “clock”. ..I am lost when I paint, so I need a timer to remind me to pick up my son from school, eat, sleep, etc.
