Meet Trailblazer Klara Gomes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Klara Gomes.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Klara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I always felt drawn to the arts and entertainment. My parents tell me until this day that as a child they would always catch me staging scenes from my favorite princess movies and fairy tales, playing all the parts in the scene, interpreting every character in my own little way.

Going to school in Brazil wasn’t a very art welcoming environment so as the years passed by I didn’t develop my artistic side as much as I wanted but I did what I could, I performed with friends during school events for fun, dancing, reading poems and even performing little skits from plays. Thankfully I had the amazing opportunity to move overseas and begin high school in an American system where I had the chance to perform plays, talent shows, etc. So I graduated high school and went to the world-renowned acting conservatory American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, where I learned how to embrace my art and become the person I’ve always wanted to be.

After concluding the two-year conservatory program I’ve been all over, since moving overseas travelling has become such a huge and beautiful part of my life that I decided to start sharing a lot of it on my social media, I loved sharing with all my friends and loved ones the blessed experiences I was having and I always thought it was a great way to connect with those you love. Today I still love not only to share my travelling experiences but also who I am, my passions, my thoughts, my opinions, my work and my art. I also love to share things I believe in, that is why I put my heart in each and every single collab I do and make sure the brands I work with really go with who I am as a person and also are interesting and insightful those who access my account.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’ve been very blessed over the years with having amazing hard-working parents that always made sure I would have the best opportunities they could give me, but there are always struggles, for me, I believe it has always been the struggle I had with myself about who I am, I’ve always been overly critical with myself which is something that has made me very self-conscious and anxious over the years. But I slowly learned how to be myself and be brave enough to be proud of who I am and most importantly, be there for myself and have the confidence to become that person I wanted to be. It is a process. Nothing is ever perfect or smooth all the way, but at the end of the day what matters is you being there for yourself.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am an actor first and foremost. I love telling stories, creating and giving life to characters that also give me life. I have a passion for doing plays and the theater, especially period pieces. I also love the camera and love shooting ads, print and creating content for social media, to me it is a place to share with people who you truly are in an intimate and extremely creative way if you chose to do so.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Definitely, I grew up in a very accepting environment, so I learned very early not to be so judgmental of who other people are. I’ve always spoken up for what I believe in and what I want. I also learned at home to never think that something isn’t for you or that you don’t deserve this and that so when I had an idea or when I wanted to do something, nothing could stop me, and that attitude has gotten me further than I could ever imagine.
