Today we’d like to introduce you to Griselda Arredondo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a mother of 3 beautiful girls married and work as a freelance makeup artist. This career allows me to spend time with my girls when they need me. I’ve been doing makeup for 10 years. I received my first certification about 7 years ago and started working as a professional freelance makeup artist. I travel around Southern California and the IE area to serve my customers. I have traveled out of state as far as Georgia for bridal parties. I absolutely love what I do. Making women feel beautiful and empowered is the best feeling. I have worked as a makeup artist for red carpet events, LA fashion week and production. I constantly attend refresher classes to stay on top of the latest trends. Social media has allowed me to expand my business. You can see my work through Instagram @makeupartistgriselda and FB makeup artist Griselda. I hope to inspire young girls looking to be in this competitive industry as well as expanding my own wings into the makeup industry.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
At the beginning of this career, you do a lot of “free” work or work for pictures. As you develop your portfolio and create a name for your self, it’s important to keep in mind that like most businesses we have to pay our dues before we can see fruits of our hard work. It’s important to stay focus, keep your eyes on your goal and never give up. Doors will open for those of us that work hard for it.
We’d love to hear more about being a Makeup Artist.
I specialize in bridal makeup, glam for any special occasion. Anything from a timeless beauty looks to a dramatic smoky eye for a fun night out. Whatever my clients ask for I deliver. I also have fun creating fun Halloween makeup looks. I try to educate my clients in the importance of skin preparation for a flawless makeup application. I’m also certified in hairstyling.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Don’t compare your self to no one. There is room for success for everyone. Don’t give up, work hard and you will succeed.
