Meet Trailblazer Emily Yuan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Yuan.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a Southern California native who grew up in a quiet suburb on the edge of Los Angeles County, the city of Walnut, CA. I am currently a Realtor serving the greater Los Angeles area, with a dollar and a dream. My story begins back when I was just a kid.

“New Construction! Model Homes- Open House!” I remember seeing these signs posted every Sunday growing up. My mom and I would make it a whole event to check out these beautifully staged model homes. I would dream of one day living in a beautiful mansion, just like the ones we toured. This was just the beginning of my obsession with real estate.

I never really knew the meaning and security of a home until my family had to move from our childhood home to my grandmother’s house. It was not from choice, but from the necessity to keep my parents’ afloat financially. And from then on, I found myself moving every year like a nomad, searching for stability in a place that I could call home again. It was hard to stay grounded in a time of uncertainty; but in hindsight, it is amazing how essential these life experiences played out in order to build a career that I am truly passionate about.

It brings me the greatest gratitude to know that I am able to help people find their security, joy, and achievement in their dream homes. There were definitely a lot of detours to get to where I am, but I kept my eyes on the destination and surrendered to the journey that unfolded. It took hard work, dedication, A LOT of rejection, and wholehearted faith to get to where I am today as a successful, top producing agent.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely was not an easy road to get to where I am. I know I had to face adversity in order for me to have progressed this far on my journey. And it is safe to say that I will continue to encounter new challenges every day. This fact allows me to change my perspective from the challenge being an inhibitor to my goals, but instead to a catalyst to learn and level up.

There were many times I wondered if I could sustain a career, let alone my next meal, off of selling real estate. But all of the struggles, jobs, and experiences gave me the space to learn about myself, my field, and how to be a badass Realtor.

Know that you are guided with your own light and you are exactly where you need to be. Learn from the struggles, push through the rocky roads, and you shall prevail! I mean if it was easy, wouldn’t everyone be doing it?

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career? The best advice I can give a young woman just starting her career is to find out what brings them joy. What can you do that is in line with what is authentic to you? What sparks your curiosity?

When you live and work in authenticity, you will be drawn to what fits with who you are and not who you think you should be or what you SHOULD be doing. And if you aren’t sure yet, keep your eyes open and allow opportunities to present itself to you. You’ll never know until you do it. “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” Shine bright!
