Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony David Marmolejo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always wanted to take photography and film in high school, just could not ever afford equipment. Finally, senior year I took both a photography and video course and I immediately knew I loved it and was good at it. Went to Orange Coast college wanting to pursue film and Photography and minor in business. Ultimately, I would want to work with the production team Happy Madison (Adam Sandler) but before finishing school I took any gigs I can. (Local music videos, online show startups, motivation speeches w/ Les Brown and his menses etc.).
One day, I was asked if I can do a wedding film and I was very confident I could, so I did. From that wedding, I was hired to do another 2 weddings… and a chain reaction happened, I found how great I am at capturing stories, PLUS I always had sales jobs all 6 years of college. (Kragen Auto parts, RadioShack, Guitar Center, Wells Fargo) and would mostly always be the number one salesman. So learned how to sell myself.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was an unexpected road. I was getting uninspired because I needed money and therefore needed to work more with the sales jobs I had. It’s amazing how life worked out because I knew I was really great at selling things especially things I believed in. I also knew I did not want to do it every day. I luckily took all the right classes, about having a product to sell which I realized I DID. When I realized I had something I knew I was good at, I just had to make it a Tangible product out of it (Wedding Films and Photography prints) So I did and it was time to use all my years of sales experience to sell this product, that I am proud of.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the MarCinema story. Tell us more about the business.
MarCinema Weddings is a Wedding photography and Film duo company. We specialize in doing BOTH photography and film with quality. Couples always mention how they always want one production team to do both photography and video but realized other productions either are really good in photography and suck in their videos or Vice-Versa but that WE kill it at both. That’s what I’m really proud of. We are super affordable and again we are amazing at both sides of the spectrum. I think that’s what sets us apart.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We would ultimately like to get the bigger clients, where we could charge more for weddings in order to take less weddings which means we would need to dedicate EVEN more time to quality work. We also would like to try to stay relevant. We see what is trending, whether it’s a video style or photography style. From there, I personally will follow different popular accounts and see the way they approach different couples and always try to learn something new. Right now, we noticed for video that the crop lines and drones are getting popular so now we are offering that service 🙂 We just want to stay very consistent, stay affordable and not lose quality and drive.
