Meet Tony Campos of eliteEATS and Territory Foods

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Campos.

Tony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was in my early to mid-20’s I began feeling tired, stressed, and out of shape. I decided to make a change and that’s when my health and fitness journey began. Fast forward a few years, when I was taking my last culinary school class, my then teach and mentor introduced me to a guy who started a paleo meal-prep service.

After some talking between the three of us, it was decided that I would do my externship (one of the final requirements for me to graduate culinary school) with his operation, eliteEATS. The whole experience was only supposed to last a few weeks and after finishing I was supposed to return to my previous career on a full-time basis (I had pulled back to part-time to complete the externship). Trouble was, I had absolutely loved the experience and wasn’t ready to go back.

After a bit of procrastinating, I made the decision to quit my old job and dedicate myself to eliteEATS. We were tiny back then and even though we were growing at a steady pace, there wasn’t much work for me to sustain myself–which was tough–but I was in a much happier, more fulfilled, situation. Not too long after making that decision eliteEATS joined the Territory Foods network and that’s when things really started to pick up for us. And now I have a solid team, a ton of work and a sustainable career wherein I can help other people promote a general health and wellness in their own lives while maintaining the same for myself. 10 years ago, I never in my wildest dreams believed I’d be where I am today!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
While I’ve enjoyed the ride, it certainly has not been a smooth road. There’s been so much growth and growth is hardly ever smooth or comfortable but it is rewarding. Transitioning from my previous career, starting over and taking a substantial pay-cut was very tough, having to cut my ego and accept that I was at the bottom again, both in terms of experience and position was tough, and getting acclimated to my new surroundings/environment was tough.

Please tell us more about your work.
We are a meal prep service that strives to cater, not just to our client’s hunger and tastes, but to support their health and fitness goals as well. We primarily specialize in Paleo/Whole30 meals but also offer Keto and general health-friendly menus as well. I’m most proud of my team, the dedication and desire they bring to the kitchen every day inspires and further encourages me to do the same.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
THAT is a very tough question! While I do wish some things along my path had turned out a bit differently, I don’t think I can genuinely say I would do things differently, if I had done things differently things may not have turned out as they have. Even though things haven’t always ended up as I planned (which I’m very grateful they didn’t), I’m grateful they turned out as they have. I’ve learned so much and have grown so much, I wouldn’t want to lose any of it.
