Meet Tommy Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tommy Park.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
From Denver, Colorado moved to Los Angeles about three years ago. Been a musician since I was a kid. Versatile in guitar, drums, and piano. Moved out here to pursue music/acting etc. I’ve been doing visual arts on and off throughout my life. But really stuck with it the past year because it’s a great form of meditation and personal time.

Please tell us about your art.
I’m a mixed media artist. I paint over whatever I can and enhance it through digital mediums such as adobe. I prefer painting magazines, photography, and postcards. But sometimes mix all of em with canvas to create some sort of collage. The inspiration behind it is kind of just like expressionism. Just following the paintbrush and see what comes out. Sometimes I have an idea or a theme in mind. It all depends on the photo or the medium. But with most of the magazine work, painting over high fashion, luxury, and models. I like to show an abstraction in what the people deem as perfect.

I just hope that people catch a glance and see something they never have before. Hopefully, the work is original and unique.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I think the biggest challenge is finding your niche. With every art form, it’s always a challenge to find that specific exact identity that embodies the work. The perfect connection that extends to the audience and the artist. It always changes and people’s perspective changes on the artwork based on hundreds of different factors. Also having the people decide one day what’s good and what’s not.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I have a few art shows now and then. Group shows and events that pop up every few months. But most of my work is on Instagram @tomparkart
