Meet Tom Williams of FrigginYeah!

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Williams.

Tom, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
FrigginYeah! Was started originally as a consultancy firm. Helping folks that need large-scale web-scraping find service organizations that would be the right fit. During that time we helped connect businesses from every vertical out there from Food Services, Retail, Automotive, Real Estate, and Industry Research.

This exposure helped us identify where there was some potential market opportunity for a new SaaS product. With the help of a new customer, that is a very well established furniture Brand, we started to sketch out what would be FrigginYeah’s new SaaS product, PricingIQ.

Over the past 18-months, we worked hard to build out new connections into over 200 different retail and marketplace websites, a new UI to present the data, and custom reporting to notify our users of important changes.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always bumps along the way, and our growth has not always been the most smooth. We pivoted from consulting to doing, and just that in and of itself became a huge challenge.

Also, along the way, we had also to clean up our book of business and really focus our efforts on building for the future. So we ended up parting ways with a few customers, placing them with trusted partners, and that is always a challenge when you are a small business.

You always want to hold onto your customers with a white-knuckled death grip, but on the flip side, you want to make sure you are providing the very best service possible. We found we could not do both for everyone so had to make the strategic decision to go hungry for a little while.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
FrigginYeah is an eCommerce price monitoring tool for Brands. We help brands monitor all their products on any retailer or marketplace they choose. For a Brand using our tool, the primary function of the price monitoring is to identify any reseller/distributor that might be violating their Minimum Advertised Price or Reseller Agreements.

Our strengths include; our ability to access the hard to get websites (e.g., the ones that hate scraping), we are able to deal with sometimes difficult technical challenges when interacting with websites, and we provide top-notch customer service.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in South Georgia in a one-red-light town with about 3K people. The only time they were famous, at least in my lifetime, was when they had the dubious honors of having a multiple show special on how poorly the town had been impacted by the economic downturn.

All that being said, I was a hellion in a lot of ways and I was always getting in trouble for some reason. I liked skateboarding, and when I couldn’t skateboard on campus, I started hacky sacking with friends (which was deemed unsafe by the school and they took away our hacky), then breakdancing until that was banned and we were robbed of our cardboard.

The latter of which was probably a good thing because we were terrible.
