Meet Tom Rowe of Fantastic IT Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Rowe.

Tom, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Our Fantastic story begins where most tech companies begin — way back in 1998 in a dusty garage somewhere in Southern California. I started Fantastic IT as a one-man shop working as a freelancer for home users and local businesses that needed IT support and basic fixes. As my client base started to grow, so did our name and reputation for excellent customer service. Before I knew it, I’d built a business based on steady and sustainable growth.

In 2004, we transitioned from a per-project / hourly based business model into a true Managed Service Provider, which changed our corporate operational landscape forever and for the better.

First, the new model allowed us to partner with our clients and commonly align our objectives to service all of their IT needs proactively, on a fixed-cost basis. Secondly, with smooth, efficient IT operations, we were able to find even more ways to increase our clients’ business productivity while simultaneously addressing their technology challenges on a day to day basis.

Flash forward to today – we continue to do inspired work, focused on building long-term relationships with our clients and educating them about using technology to grow their business.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced over the years is striking the balance between keeping our rates reasonable while doing my best to take great care of our amazing employees by providing things such as full medical benefits, etc. Our priority and focus has always been delivering excellent customer service and a fantastic client experience to our existing client base in order to drive a high client retention rate, as opposed to spending those resources on selling to new clients and then moving on to the next client acquisition and so on.

And, as you can imagine, that can lead to the pressure point of affording the great staff to provide the world-class support our clients have come to expect while keeping rates in a range that makes sense for the businesses that bring us onboard. It’s key for our client base to grow at a pace that’s just as steady as how often we’re lucky enough to add new members to the Fantastic IT team.

We’ve grown so much over the years and we owe the majority of that to word of mouth. We take great care of our users and are fortunate enough that they tell others about the work we do and as a result, our Fantastic family grows a bit bigger.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In early 2017, our business underwent a huge change: we went from, to Fantastic IT! The name change was a promise to our existing clients and to future clients alike that even if our name and website change, the quality of service won’t. So no big changes in the immediate future! Just continually living up to our name every day.
