Meet Tlaloc Garcia of Lalo Keyz in San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tlaloc Garcia.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began my journey as a connoisseur of art. As a child, I was always obsessed with music. I always had an affinity for song, dance, and visual art. During the 90s, which I still refer to the Golden Age of Hip-hop, I feel like I was inspired by many artists that are referred to as legendary by today’s standards. What started as an obsession with my first electric guitar, blossomed into a passion for DJing. While attending San Diego State University, I used to DJ events with my older cousin and would play at Fraternity events on Fraternity Row. Once I became frustrated with the amount of content that was monotonous, I decided to try my luck with composition. At the time, I was frustrated with my own life and decided to take a leap and join The US Army. Coincidentally, I continued my path with music. Traveling around the world gave me a much more broad perspective of what music should be. After my discharge, I continued to network with local artists in my area. I believe that other people and their experiences have been just as much of a part of my experience. Today, I find myself Producing compositions, songwriting, networking, and promoting events in my city.

Has it been a smooth road?
In my experience, nothing good ever comes easy. I have had many struggles with my mental health as well as adjusting to civilian life. My music was therapeutic in my ability to see the beauty in life again. Recently, what began as a project to promote the artists that I have been promoting, evolved into a Collective of Visual Artists and Live Performers. My current dilemma is the participation of others and my own self-doubt. I always look at my ability to doubt myself as motivation to continue my dream.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Currently, I am a Singer/Songwriter and a Music Producer. I specialize in HipHop Production and am currently branching out into Latin Music. I am most proud of my ability to network and receiving support from newcomers. I believe that my ability to persevere is what sets me apart from other artists. I enjoy being a member of a vast network of love, music, and positivity.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is currently the Mecca for entertainment on our side of the country. I also understand that sound and genres travel. I believe that most people should learn to research their purpose and then make a studied plan to execute.
