Meet Tirsa Farah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tirsa Farah.

Tirsa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I guess it all started at the age of ten. Being the only girl in my family, it fell on me to make dinner for my brothers and family when my mom and dad worked. My mom had always worked two jobs for as longs as I can remember so cooking quickly became something I got into. I would watch and help my mom in the kitchen whenever I could, and I actually liked it.

Fast forward to 2008. With a newborn baby, no job, no college education insight I was nothing more than a girl with all these hopes and dreams. One night I remember it being like 11:00 pm at night, had just put my baby to bed when low and behold a Le Cordon Bleu commercial came on the TV describing all the very things I wanted to do and be. It was literally speaking to me.

I’m a God fearing woman so in my head that was God showing me the way to go. The VERY next day I went to Le Cordon Bleu and signed myself up. I graduated in 2009 and started my journey from there. Little did I know that my now Husband enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu in 2009 when I was about to graduate. I worked at various kitchens after I graduated all while pursuing my life long dreams of one day having my very own restaurant.

During the time I started working these other jobs, it was at that moment that I started my very own Lunch Delivery Service called Love, Tirsa. Food was my love letter to the world, so it only seemed fitting. I created a cold menu that included wraps and salads. I took one paycheck and bought everything I needed at that time to start. It was like $300 or $400 something like that.

Prior to thi,s though I would make baked treats like cookies and blondies put my baby in the stroller and just walk around my neighborhood peddling my baked treats. AND they actually sold. So when it came time to start my salads and wraps I remember making about 10 of each, and I went to Keck medical center by my house, stood on a corner with a cooler and a sign that said Wraps and Salads for sale. I sold like three or four.

Here we are, almost nine years later. There’s a lot that happened in between like meeting my husband now business partner and different other stuff, but in a nutshell here it is.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Its been the opposite of smooth. Struggles would be juggling my passion and regular job at the same time, being a single mom the first five years of starting my business, going into BAD partnerships and having to start again from the ground up. Struggle is an understatement, but I was never deterred if anything it just fueled me more.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Our business is a small family operated adventure where if you come in chances are you will see my husband, son, or myself working the floor. We serve Mexican food with what I like to call an LA influence.

We created a super cozy environment where people can just come and eat good home cooked food made with the best ingredients of all LOVE, and since we are on the topic, I would cheesily have to say that our specialty is LOVE cooked meals.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t change a thing.
