Meet Tina Renee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Renee.

Tina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was literally on a one-hour lunch break, sitting in my car, and extremely frustrated with Corporate America when I had a “tough love talk” with myself. I have always been an Artisan at heart, so I knew I was supposed to be “making things”, NOT typing and taking calls for 8 hours a day. I told myself that I needed to stop putting up with the harsh demands of a nine-to-five job and simply take a chance on myself! With that, I started to think of “things” I really liked and would enjoy making for other people – This is when the idea to create my very own line of scented candles manifested. Days, weeks, and months into it all, I found that “my little candle hobby thing” had evolved into a legit passion. In 2017, D. Kay by Tina Renee started operating as an eco-friendly aromatherapy brand.

In 2020, I walked away from my job one and for all, and I started operating my mobile candle boutique, Whiffs on Wheels.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Devoting yourself to starting a new business and seeing it through does come with its share of challenges. I quickly found that a full-time entrepreneur wears many hats, all of which are extremely demanding. From social media marketing to logistics, to being both the Customer Service Manager and Administrative Assistant – There are many roles to be played.

This becomes challenging because it is crucial that each role is given its due attention. If any part of the business is left unattended, those portions will suffer greatly, and ultimately your business will start to deteriorate.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Candle Designer, I don’t just make candles. From the aroma selection to researching the effect that our aromas will have on our customer’s mood, to giving each single one of our candles a personality – I am entirely invested in the entire process!! Whiffs on Wheels is best known for the method in which we have chosen to market our candles, and ultimately, the main factor that set me apart from other candle brands.

I operate a mobile candle boutique – A retail space that brings a unique candle shopping encounter to each of my customers. Our boutique is magical, as it allows one to come in and have a posh, intimate, and affordable experience.

I am most proud of the relations that we have built with our customers over the past year. To have a customer come back repeatedly to purchase your products because they believe in your brand is priceless.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First, I must give God his due credit, as he was Potter, and I was in clay in all of this – He will forever be the apple of my eye. Next, my mother, D. Kay deserves a shoutout for all the long self-assuring talks she has given me at my times of uncertainty, she’s my daily motivation. Lastly, my best friend Lee – I could not do any of this without his unwavering loyalty to my brand.
