Meet Tijahnni Newton of TiJahnni Los Angeles in Inglewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tijahnni Newton.

Tijahnni, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I made my first pair of earrings about nine months ago. I was inspired by a piece I saw at a museum. The earrings were just a project, a creative outlet. I was so happy with how they came out that I posted them on Instagram. With that one pair of earrings, I began to get requests from potential buyers so I rolled with it! It moved really quickly from there. I began to find inspiration everywhere. I taught myself how to make rings, crystal earrings, and bracelets. Things really started flowing when I started designing nose jewelry. My most popular items are the faux nose cuffs for people who do not have their nose pierced.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been pretty smooth so far. I’ve been able to learn fast. I prefer to create rather than deal with the business details but it comes with the territory. The biggest challenge has been working a 9-5 and running a business at the same time. I’m seriously always busy. Its been an exciting challenge. I know how blessed I am to be thriving in my career and as an entrepreneur, especially while living in Los Angeles.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with TiJahnni Los Angeles – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My business started out with one pair of earrings. Before anything else, I simply like to design and create. My business has come to be known for the unique nose jewelry and customers love the details included with the packaging. Each package gets shipped out with an extra token of my appreciation for the customer’s support. I include a sticker with original artwork from local artists and a logo button. Many packages include a handwritten note. I’m proud of the way I make the customers feel. I’m proud that each and every piece is handmade, Its a different kind of gratification. I feel like the fact that I attempt to make some sort of real connection with my customers sets me apart.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to keep expanding and rolling out new creations. I really hope to hire a team one day as I expand. I love collaborating with peers and other artists, so that is definitely something to look out for. I will be adding something to my shop that I am very excited about but I’d rather not say what it is yet! I have a love for being out in the community, hopefully I can get back to attending local pop-up events soon.
