Meet Tiffany Gilbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Gilbert.

Tiffany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a Los Angeles based Creative Director & Photographer. I grew up in Hollywood, CA in the media district and was naturally influenced by all different times of art. I danced and studied theater most of my early life and have always created art since I was a kid. I remember being around six years old, designing my own Barbie clothes from scratch from curtains, pillowcases and from different types of fabrics around the house with glue and sewing thread. I also would carry a camera on me at all times, I was very passionate about capturing great moments with my friends & family members. I began designing websites and myspace pages in 2002 at the age of 14.

That same year I purchased Paint Shop Pro (7) and I developed graphic design skills on my very own from just browsing the web and reading books and articles. In 2004, I purchased my first domain which was a personal blog that was also filled with graphic and web design freebies such as in-depth Paint Shop Pro & Adobe Photoshop tutorials, HTML, CSS and PHP website coding tutorials, free website and myspace layouts, self-made GIFS, free graphic textures, desktop wallpapers & more. Everything was very much influenced by fashion & music.

After high school, I attended The Art Insitute for Fashion Marketing & Management while working at fashion retail stores and freelancing from time-to-time as a Graphic Design Artist. My dream job was to become a professional Wardrobe Stylist, I remember networking in the studio wardrobe departments in retail stores at the Beverly Center mall where I worked. I connected with different creatives who worked on tv and movie sets as Wardrobe Stylists, Photographers & Models to build my Fashion Portfolio, which was great. One day I had this really amazing idea to purchase my own DSLR and shoot my own work. I purchased my first DSLR in 2008, a Canon Rebel XTi from a photographer on Craigslist.

I then realized how much I enjoyed Styling and Designing for my very own Fashion Photoshoots. I began booking headshot, maternity, and creative portrait sessions and also events. In the beginning, I didn’t have access to much equipment, I started out shooting only natural light settings such as backyards, local parks, and beaches.

I am now 11 years strong running Tiffany Gilbert Photography Studios. I now have my own studio space in Inglewood, CA where I produce most of my work, and I also shoot in natural light on location. I now specialize in Fashion & Beauty Editorial Photography, as well as Lifestyle Product Photography for Fashion, Cosmetic & Skincare companies. I still offer creative lifestyle portraits, headshots, weddings & engagement, maternity & newborn, also fashion shows and events.

I’ve been published in 8 Magazines, including Nylon Magazine and I’ve also been on the cover of a Fashion & Beauty magazine based in Italy. I have been featured on an Amazon Prime TV show called Model Diaries as myself. I am so happy and blessed to be able to do what I love for a living.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
This year, I shot a photo that was on the cover of a movie poster. Also, I began creating content for different LA based beauty and fashion companies. It’s a blessing to see my work lit up on billboards, I am proud of what I’ve accomplished so far. I’m focused on growing my business and working with companies and brands all around the world.
