Meet Tiara Harvey of PlenTee of Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiara Harvey.

Hi Tiara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was younger, my mom would host a Halloween party every year. It was something (my cousins and I) would always look forward too because she would go all out. Since it was at my house, I would see the weeks leading up to the party… all the decorations and planning it took to get to the big night. The party always turned out amazing from the big jumper slide, costume contest, creepy cemetery display to the spider webbing around the food. It was fun for me to help and be apart of (the) process because you just get the excitement of (it and) in a couple (of) hours people will get here and see how amazing the party looks.

At the time, I never thought, ‘Hey! I want to be a party planner’. I just knew I loved hosting and decorating parties. It started off as a hobby. I would just enjoy helping out and giving my ideas. The more I started doing events. I said to myself, ‘You’re really getting good at this, maybe you should take it more serious’. I’m a pretty busy person because I (work) in the medical field. So I always wondered would I have the time to do it all. Until I remembered a conversation, I had with my uncle and he said don’t just buy materialistic things because (what will you have to show for it) years down the line, invest in something that’s gonna make you even more money! Then PlenTee of Events was born…

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The hardest part for me has been time. I wish I had a clone to help with small things. It’s a bit hard to do everything especially during a pandemic. A lot of the places I go to downtown close early now and with me working as well. It’s hard to figure out when I could go. Or if I had a long rough day with my patients, I just want to sleep but I can’t cause I have centerpieces to put together. But I’m learning that I can’t do it all and it’s okay to ask for help.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a party planner so from baby showers to weddings, I could do it all. Everyone knows me as if I’m planning their event I’m going to say let’s order the cake from Hansen’s Cake Bakery! What makes me the most proud is where I am today. I lost my dad at eighteen. At that age, you’re an adult but still a kid. I had to grow up fast so much responsibility came my way. Six years later despite all of the people who thought I wouldn’t be anything. I’m just out here killing it. Helping save lives during the day time and making people’s dream events feel everlasting in the evening. PlenTee of Events is different from the rest because I’m selfless anyone could make an event look beautiful. But is your planner going to look out for you more than themselves.

What makes you happy?
My support system! To my family, to my friends, to my TT babies. Everyone makes me feel so loved and supported and you need that because if you don’t have support, you’ll end up crashing at some point. You need people who’s going to uplift you and keep you grounded during the hard times.
