Meet Theresa Simon of NDV Healing and Support

Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Simon.

Theresa Simon, a domestic violence/narcissistic abuse survivor of two abusive relationships, spent time focusing on healing, re-building her life after abuse, raising her children, and her career. During the phase of rebuilding her life after abuse, Theresa began a support group for domestic violence survivors, and later founded (and formed the support group into) the non-profit organization NDV (Narcissistic Domestic Violence) Healing and Support Inc., to assist victims of domestic violence. Theresa went from domestic violence survivor to thriver. She is a motivational speaker, domestic violence advocate, Author, and Podcast host. Theresa’s book on domestic violence/narcissist abuse, My Secret Life, My Journey through Domestic Violence, is available now. Theresa has over ten years of experience in the case management/human services field, with state certified training. Additional training includes but not limited to: Crisis Intervention Training, Trauma Informed Training, and Family Development Training.

Theresa has assisted children and families as a Case Manager, Family Development Specialist, and Economic Support Specialist. Theresa continues to focus on her career, working in the Human Services/Social Services field and has 11 classes (over 100 college credits completed) to finish her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice (concentration in supervision and management). Has it been a smooth road?
Theresa struggled with understanding what was really wrong and had anxiety, as discussed in her book. Later, Theresa became educated on narcissistic family dynamics, and terms such as scapegoat, and golden child, and Theresa realized she was the family scapegoat, which she developed a trauma bond in childhood with her parent(s). This trauma bond in childhood made her more susceptible to developing a trauma bond in her adult relationships, and thus, Theresa ended up in two abusive relationships. It was a struggle to overcome the narrative that Theresa wasn’t going to succeed and to re-build her life after abuse, but Theresa was determined to get through it.
