Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Broadnax.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Theresa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a Midwest native from Ohio that starting out working in the corporate world, but knew early on that I didn’t want to sit behind the desk. After resigning from the State of Ohio Taxation Department in 1994, I entered into the beauty world and earned my cosmetology license from The Ohio State School of Cosmetology. Having owned Studio Design Group, a beauty salon and image consulting business in downtown Columbus Ohio for ten years, and serving as Creative Director on multiple media projects at Ozone Studios, in 2002 I expands my business objective, and used my business/marketing skills to secure projects in Hollywood.
In 2004 merging my creative and business skills, I created House of Broadnax (HOB Brand) to contribute and impact the entertainment industry with my talents. I’ve taken on roles as creative director, dept head, designer and key stylist on television and film projects such as Twenties for BET, Free Meek for Amazon Prime, Five Points for Facebook, The Tyra Banks Show for CW and the #1 iconic daytime drama The Young and the Restless. I’ve created looks for a host of actors and celebrities such as Colin Kaepernick, Erika Ash, Esai Morales, Jesse Metcalfe and former President George W. Bush.
With hard work, passion and creativity for all things beauty and fashion I’ve received two National Academy of Television Arts & Science Emmy Awards in both outstanding hairstyling and costume design.
I’ve had the opportunity to appear on shows like The Young & the Restless, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and HGTV Outdoor Room w/Jamie Durie. I’m also creative director & designer of HOB Brand premium leather essentials and HOB Beauty organic haircare line.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It wasn’t always a smooth road. After that initial project, I had to really hustle to keep to work stead at first, being new in Los Angeles and new to the industry game. A lot of the industry is about who you know and/or forming great lasting relationships. Being a hairstylist, I was able to rent a salon suite to gain clients and income when I didn’t have a filming project.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with House of Broadnax – HOB Brand – HOB Beauty – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
HOB Beauty, HOB Brand. I created my brand by staying true to who I am. My brand tells people who I am, what I do, whyI do it, and how I do it.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Yes, I’m planning to slowly expand the brand with more products and placing the products on other sites like Amazon and in beauty supply stores, some creative and purpose filled events. And I’m also producing a podcast for the HOB Brand.
