Meet Terrance T. Young

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance T. Young.

Terrance T., please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
For the past ten years, I was living in New York City trying to pursue a career in Filmmaking. Back when I graduated from college in 2011 for Video Production, the world of social media became a new outlet for artists like myself to release content.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a job in my field with an associate’s degree, so to keep a roof over my head, I had to work minimum wage jobs and I felt very unsure about what direction I was heading in.

Since filming is a pretty long process, I decided to experiment with some photography and I managed to build a name for myself which lead to more projects and even some experience in recording music. After years of developing my own style, I found myself being blessed with an opportunity to start a new journey with my team in Los Angeles.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I feel my biggest struggles were not having enough space and time. As you know, New York is the city that never sleeps with low living space, so finding an opportunity to be creative or a moment to concentrate on myself felt nearly impossible.

Filming requires collaborative effort. However, there were times where completing or even starting a project was challenging because everyone in my team would have such busy schedules, and it’s hard to get people to work with you on low budget projects for free. Plus, I had to keep up with my own bills, so a lot of projects were often put on hold.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I currently specialize in helping artists create visual content for their brand. I’m not the most popular artist on social media, but most of my followers discovered me through my IG where I approach my stories like a mini-show using creative video edits to display my skills in photography, music, and acting.

You’ll see my adventure getting used to the LA lifestyle while showing some behind the scenes footage of my photoshoots, and videos of me experimenting on new projects with other friends of mine. I’m passionate about giving every post an artistic approach. Everything you see serves a purpose because I like to make people feel as if I took them on journey. My IG story would have a beginning, a middle, and an end. It’s the filmmaker in me.

I’m proud to say that I’ve built authentic relationships with other artists and people in general that genuinely support my journey as a multitalented artist. You can’t follow a traditional route when you want to do something that’s never been done before.

I’m very grateful knowing the supporters I’ve gained are truly invested in me because they can see that I’m just trying to make a living doing what I love. It feels good to know that I don’t have to be a celebrity to inspire others to pursue their passion.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Before, I was surrounded by so many distractions, but now I’m finally in a space where I could concentrate on myself, I plan to work on all the projects that I’ve mentioned before about putting on hold. The goal is to release more of my art into the world. More photography, music, and video content. I would really love to have my own show someday or gain more acting experience in general. I always saw myself on tv screens in the near future. I definitely feel myself getting closer to achieving those goals. One day at a time.
