Meet Tené Stewart of HeyyMissTene in San Pedro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tené Stewart.

Tené, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my YouTube channel about six years ago when I was 18. I only uploaded three makeup tutorials, I began to send them to my friends by uploading them on Facebook. I allowed people, whom I thought were my friends, to discourage me. I shied away from making content and uploading videos. It wasn’t until late last year, that I decided to continue with what I started. I haven’t uploaded to my YouTube yet, but I created my Instagram, HeyyMissTene and my Blog Heyymisstene.com. My pages are geared to fashion, makeup and my overall lifestyle. I wanted to focus on those three elements for various reasons. The main reason was there aren’t many bloggers out there that look like me. Yes, there are melanin bloggers, but I find their complexion is either very fair or very deep compared to mine. In regards to fashion, it’s the same. I find there is a huge category for those who are very slim and there is a category for the full figured, but nothing in between. My goal is to have those who feel like they can’t relate to anyone, relate to me whether it be my size, my lifestyle, my makeup techniques or just my personality.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, nothing is very smooth. It’s hard catching peoples attention. One has to relate on a deeper level then appreciating content nowadays. What I mean by that is, I could upload a great picture to my feed, great quality great angles, but if it doesn’t pull the viewer to my page, then they weren’t able to make a connection with me. You have to capture your reader’s attention if only for a second. Also, like I said before I was discouraged from continuing my YouTube channel because I allowed others to discourage me. If I could tell myself six years ago their opinions shouldn’t affect me and to keep going, I would, but I was young and I didn’t know fully know myself. So cliche I know, lol!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with HeyyMissTene – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
HeyyMissTene is an up and coming brand. My business is geared towards, Fashion, Makeup and my overall Lifestyle. I am the face behind the brand and the blog. Since I have started, I’ve been contacted by numerous brands for potential collaborations. As well as just positive recognition, which is always a plus since I’m just starting out.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
What I am most excited about is the journey ahead of me. I’m taking my blog and my Instagram one upload at a time. I have begun revamping my YouTube channel, as well as teaching myself how to use it again since it’s been a while. I can’t wait to start uploading my vlogs again. There is no limit to where Heyymisstene as a brand and business will go, I’m ready for the ride!
