Meet Trquoiz in Sacramento-Southern California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trquoiz.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started singing when I was about five years old and haven’t stopped since! When I was younger, I was very shy to sing for people but I broke out of my shell once I got to high school and started performing a lot when I was in college. Soon after, I had this moment where I felt my creativity seemed to reach a new level so I changed my stage name to Trquoiz.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Pursuing music comes with a lot of challenges. This industry is extremely competitive and tricky so I always have to remind myself to stay positive, grounded, and motivated. This year in particular has been very difficult because of COVID. Earlier this year, I would perform a few times a week or go to shows, so with everything closed right now, it has definitely pushed me to find new ways to stay creative and engage with my audience.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a singer, songwriter, and creative. Trquoiz is my stage name and is inspired by the turquoise stone and color which represent tranquility, peace, and protection. I want my music and voice to provide a soothing vibe for my listeners so this is always a good reminder for me when I’m creating.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My dad was the first person to push me to do music. During my first performance at five years old, he stood next to me on stage because I was so nervous. More recently, during my rebranding process, my brother gave me the idea to change my stage name and from then I had a ton of support from my siblings, boyfriend, family and close friends that push me out of my comfort zone and constantly remind me to stay focused during some very challenging moments of my life and I am so grateful for all of them!
