Meet Taylor Hoverson of Tangerine Tuesday

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Hoverson.

Hi Taylor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started this clothing brand to create purpose for myself and to help others be more intentional with their choices (with their clothing and their lives.) Like most 20-something-year-olds during the pandemic, all sense of my identity and what I thought I wanted out of life was shattered. In that reflection, one of the many things I noticed about myself was that my clothes dictated my mood pretty often which led to questioning, “what is it that determines if my clothes make me feel good or not?” From there, I had so many creative ideas for designs that I just decided to go for it. I started working on Tangerine Tuesday in October 2021 and launched in April 2022. I learned everything either on Youtube, Google or by phoning a friend or two. I have gotten where I am today with the help of Youtube, the support of my family and friends, and my self-determination to go for it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say that the road has actually been pretty smooth and the only bumps came from the rocks I was throwing in my own path as a means of feeding into my self-sabotage and self-limiting beliefs. I have had many meltdowns, cried lots of tears, skipped many meals, and worked endless 12-hour days. However, I enjoyed the process of seeing what my limits were and what I was capable of. I’m also grateful for being forced to grow and look at the ways in which I have been operating in the past that may not be serving me anymore.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Tangerine Tuesday – Intentional Apparel is a brand that aims to encourage personal growth and self-compassion in everything we put out. Our style is based on nonseasonal everyday Los Angeles apparel with more unisex items coming your way soon. What sets this brand apart from others is that the focus is not just to create clothing that is consciously chosen but to help create people that are more self-aware and in turn, more intuitive and trusting of themselves. Currently brand-wise, I am most proud of the fact that the “intentionality” aspect seems to translate well to my customers. They can tell that each piece of clothing, shipping items, tags, etc. has been chosen with them in mind and executed with love. I want these readers to know that I am just getting started. My goal has always been to design my own pieces that reinforce the positive feelings we wish to give life to, which is currently in the works so stay tuned. I plan to create many pieces with sayings and symbols that you will be happy to walk around in and represent as an expression of yourself and your beliefs.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I think most people would agree that I’ve always been somewhat of a free spirit (some would even say this is a gross understatement). As a child I was shy until you got to know me, then I was weird and funny and adventurous and always laughing although internally I was extremely sensitive and scared of everything. I have been viewed as brave and fearlessly always going after what I want, but fear has always been with me. I just decided one day that I wasn’t going to let my fear hold me back from anything; otherwise, I would go nowhere in this life. I have always been a dancer and loved all things travel, adventure, swimming, music, and chasing the moments that make me feel alive.
